I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a A160 (99) Auto cold starting problem. Car was stood for 2 weeks and needed boosting to get going. Noticed that it does not fire up unless you tickle the accelerator, and even then if you take your foot off it stalls. You have to fire it up coxing it with the accelerator, and then keep revving it for 20-30 seconds or so, after which time it will idle, albeit very lumpy. Seems to be OK when warmed up. Any idea what I maybe looking at? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with my C180! I'm suspecting that it's the OVP relay as I know that it's a goner (ABS, speedo etc. not working). Going to order a new one on Monday, and I'm hoping that it's going to fix it. *fingers crossed*

It sounds as if your engine ECU is not recognising the engine is cold and adjusting the mixture/idle accordingly. This could be fault with the MAF/ECU combined unit or the engine temperature sensor. Other possibilities are a partially blocked fuel filter/ failing fuel pump or possibly a faulty ignition cassette. Your "Boost start" has probably fried something unfortunately. The other possibility is that your battery is damaged and not putting out enough voltage-- some car electrics are very sensitive to this. Time to consult the "A class Oracle" -----LOFTY! http://www.aclassinfo.co.uk/mypage.1.htm
