A daft snow tyre experiment....

Make sure you put them on with the correct rotation. You need to make sure it'll pass it's next MOT. :D

I think a few members are taking this a little too seriously...

...why does everybody get technical??? ya dont need speed ratings, your on snow! the cops wont catch you, and road noise....YOUR ON SNOW!!! (or mud) im gonna get myself some old rims that will fit, and post it on youtube!!! whats the worst that can happen (apart from no snow!!!) at least the load rating will be ok!!!

:D So for those of you that thought I was joking...

This morning I fitted said dumper tyres to the rear of the s124, along with 2 of the orignal steel wheels on the front. I then used the car for most of the afternoon with a smug grin on my face, as it will go where everybody else cant.

We had around 4 to 5 inches of snow here today, causing most people to get stuck on the hills around here and abandon their cars at the side of the road. I just drove round the lot of them and cruised up the hills without an issue.

I dont think I'd want to take it faster than 45mph though, as the handling was getting a little "intresting" after that speed!

I'll post some pics tomorrow, but for today I'm going to call it a win.:p

let me see if i can find these kinda wheels to fit on the C 200k for toady's trip!

let me know if its worth comming up today bud. cheers.

If that's 4 to 5 inches, your Mrs is probably seriously bored...

Maybe a poor choice of word there...

Not sure i'd want to be the one to blow them up for the first time, it looks brilliant though! :)

Thank you for that Will, Billys pics show last nights snow fall after I had cleared that area yesterday afternoon.;)

I've never seen crocodile skin tyres before.

No worries, perfectly normal for this sort of tyre, and they are fitted with inner tubes.:thumb:

Hi

The tyres are fitted incorrectly...

The white paint mak on the tyre should line up with the white dot on the rim:fail:D

230k

im surprised you get any traction. my tractor slides on snow covered roads with similar tyres. you need far more 'sipes' or thin slits for snow grip.

sorry to be boring.
