Hi all, I've been busy reading up on the various veg oil threads on here as that was one of the main reasons I bought the W210. I ran my old Scorpio on well filtered and de-watered waste veg oil for over 30,000 miles with no issues but fancied something a bit more reliable (I hope )
Anyway, I've a couple of questions that I hope you can help with.
1) Before I do the switch, I'm planning to change the glow plugs as the glow plug light comes back on for a minute after starting. Olivier has sent me some excellent links for this job so I'm happy to have a go, especially as I always like to do my own maintenance. I'm planning to fit either Buru's or Bosch Duraterms, if I can get an answer from Help Today! (No reply to my email but I'll give them a phone tomorrow)
Other than the Glow Plugs, manifold gasket & the big 'o' ring at the EGR valve, is there anything else I'm likely to need to replace? (please don't say the cylinder head if the glow plug snaps, I've read about this too and I'll be taking it very gently )
2)While I've got the manifold off, I'd like to change the oil seals in the fuel lines for Viton ones, as recommended on here. Silver Saloon, can I ask where did you get yours from? You mentioned that you had bought a big bag, would you be interested in selling me some if you have spares of the ones I need? I'd also appreciate some pointers on which ones to change, is it essentially the same as the W124?
3) I've got the heat exchanger that I had fitted to the Scorpio, I'd appreciate feedback on where others have situated this in the engine bay and where they tapped into the fuel & water pipes please.
4) I also read about removing the viscous fan, Olivier mentioned this to me when I met up with him. I'm curious why the car has both the viscous and electric fans fitted in the first place?
5) I'll be checking the tank strainer as advised prior to the switch and during the first few thousand miles.
