My A160 tailgate has suffered from sundry rattles that I have been sorting.
All that remains is the adjustment of the catch.
According to WIS the dimension "A" should be 24-26mm.
My car's catch does not look like the WIS image and the equivalent dimension is 40mm.
Would someone please supply me with the dimension shown by the red arrow in the image of my car's catch, from the rear edge of the catchplate to the edge of the bodywork seam (with the rubber moulding pulled back)?

Not the answer that you are looking for I know, but based on my own experience of tailgate rattles on my A160, I would suggest adjusting the catch so the tailgate needs to be be (almost) slammed shut.

The plastic trim panel looks damaged around the catch, perhaps there has been a problem with the lock before?

If you look at the area of the catch where the latch operates, is this at all worn? They often are, and this would mean replacing the latch and catch as no amount of adjustment will overcome the free play between the two parts.

Thanks area51, based on the age of the car I suspect you're right that it's free play due to wear, between the latch and catch, but I'd like to at least get the positioning right and work from that - does anyone have that red arrow dimension please?

Sorry but looking at both pic's there the same and looks like the size comes from the edge of the plastic not how the colour pic does from the metal body! Just an observation from what I can see on pics hope this helps.

Thanks streethawk, you're dead right, I see now that the moulding edge under my figure 40 is the same edge as on the WIS image, quite obvious now you've pointed it out.
WIS says "from rear edge of latch striker to front edge of seal"
So I may also be wrong in measuring from the rear edge of the striker plate, should be from the rear edge of the round-section striker.

My pleasure were all here to help one and other hope you sort it.
