A169 Aux connection

I have recently bought a 2009 A169 (A160 BE). It has the standard Audio 20 head unit. I have plugged a standard audio jack into the socket in the glove box and connected a new Sony MP3 player. The sound quality is terrible. The main problem is that, even on full volume, it is far too quiet - almost inaudible in fact. Also, if I try to charge the MP3 battery using a lead connected to the lighter when the stereo is turned on, there is a terrible buzzing - like some kind of interference through the speakers. To be honest, the whole system appears worse than usesless. I have tried this set up on several other (non MB) cars and have had no problems

Does anyone know of any fix or adjustment to make the sound louder?

I'd try another MP3 player and a different lead. The AUX input is OK (not brilliant, but not bad) when i've used it with a iPod - it is quieter than i'd like though.

could be an impedence mismatch.....check out another mp3 player
