About to buy a C63

I bought the car from a MB dealership in England so it came with a 2 year warranty - I'll probably be servicing with Agnew MB until the warranty expires then I'll probably use Creevys, yeah. Sorry about the exhaust link, added a fixed one now. :)

Guys

Would you be put off a C63 if it had 3 previous owners in 5 years?
Have been to see the car again, checked its history which is all with Mercedes (Agnew).
Already done an HPI check which shows all ok apart from a mileage discrepancy (which is clearly a clerical error)
Its due service B in about 3 months, so we've agreed dealer (Non MB) knows another couple of hundred off the car and I do service with specialist.
Also agreed two new Pirelli back tyres if I purchase.

Rather wet here in N.I today, so test drive was a challenge from traction point of view.
But what a noise :D

Haha, I'm sure it was, but that's half the fun with the C63 really.

Would it put me off? No, not really, not if the specification was right. Did you ask the seller why he's selling it? You could also ask outright if it has or has had any issues, mechanical, electrical, aesthetic or otherwise, and get him to put it in writing that he doesn't know about any. It doesn't really protect you but you could wrangle out some details he hasn't told you about.

In saying that, I wouldn't be over suspicious if it drives well and everything else about the history is present. Just be vigilante on your test drives (plural, I would go again before making a decision) and listen to things other than the engine itself (hard not to, I know), and make sure you try a couple of different types of road with different types of driving/turns to assist.

I always like to ask for all receipts related to any work done too, which is nice to maintain a detailed history of the car and to be informed further as to the amount of work that's been necessary (and a real kick in the nuts to highlight how expensive maintenance can be at Agnew's, heh). You could also enquire into the vehicles history via Agnew's as well, but not sure if they'll give up any details.

Finally ... Make sure you buy the car because it is completely right, not just because the C63 itself is an awesome car (i.e. getting distracted by that awesome engine and ignoring any faults the car might have). Of course a 4 year old isn't going to be perfect, but... It should be damn close. ;-)

GOOD LUCK! Looking forward to pictures after your purchase. :D

Cheers

Should have said, there's a folder with a load of paperwork, included in that is the MB digital service reports each year, amongst other receipts from MB, MOT's etc.

Also should have said, I know the car dealer who has the C63(I bought 4 new STI Impreza's over the years).

We've agreed also that Creevy's will inspect the car if I buy it, and any issues will be rectified accordingly. He's happy with that arrangement.

You're right about MB, I tried that route previously with my current CLK55 and they were very secretive back then

When I was driving, I was trying to listen for things and radio off etc. Car drove perfectly, and that was around country roads, with a few areas to have a blast when car oil warmed sufficiently.

Great stuff, sounds like you're on top of it, so winner, winner, chicken dinner if you're happy with the whole package! :D

3 owners in 5 years. I'd say not a problem, some people buy them without doing their homework, these cars aren't exactly cheap to run, that would certainly account for that, £60 of fuel every 200 miles and rear tyres like they're going out of fashion etc.

reference the B service, I would always take my car to a main dealer for any servicing, but that's my choice, my last B service was only £320 and my A was £280 at the main dealer - not as bad as I thought.

I've never been a fan of Pirelli tyres, expect to replace them again in 5-6000 miles, my first set of Goodyear Asymetric 2s lasted about 6000 miles, the last set are on 5000 miles now and appear to be about half worn. Most people sing the praises of Michellins. I've never tried them but a simple search will throw up several threads about them.

I wouldn't be worried by the number of owners.

I've found the Michelin Pilot SuperSports to be the best tyres although I've not had them long enough to be able to account for wear rates etc.

Deal done, black monster coming home on Wednesday after it get new boots :D

Health to enjoy.

Can't wait man, Great car, even with the traction issues compared to the 55. Guess I should make better friends with my local tyre outfit

When are you picking it up Shaun? It's going kill if you need to wait a while (apologies to all the other owners out there waiting X months on a new car list, lol).

Tomorrow...might take a trip to Creevy to see it S.

Tomorrow evening man, about 5pm. Really looking forward to picking it up
Who do you insure your C63 with if you don't mind my asking?

Tomorrow...might take a trip to Creevy to see it S.

Its not going to Creevy's until sometime next week as they're closed this week Ciaran

I've never been a fan of Pirelli tyres

OK, well because of the holiday period here over the last two days, tyre place doesn't have the Pirelli's, PS3's don't come in the size, and PSS's aren't available for about 3 weeks.

So, its getting Continental's

Guys - more questions in advance of getting the car.

Does linguatronic work in the real word?

Without training I couldn't get the linguatronics to recognise me easily - I haven't tried the training mode yet to adjust it to our "unique" vernacular. ;)

As for insurance, I'm currently with Tesco Bank, although they stipulate that the can is allowed zero modifications, so you have to be completely stock (or at least, tell them that you're completely stock, cough) - I am though, so no problems there. The best alternative was Admiral, as usual, who DO allow modifications and aren't quite as picky about them.

Range for quotes is around £400-ish w/ 10 years+ NCB, so not too bad at all!

watch out fr admiral i went with them and they list a supercharger in their list of mods ...guess what contacted them for adding a supercharger..oh no sir we dont cover that
me.why do u list it then
them err err err err eerrr...
