Thanks, yes it worked^ Sorry, no need for my post above. I now see it was answered earlier.
My cars use either R12 or R134a ; the prices were for R134a ; and I did specify in my post that it was R134a I was talking about as R12 is no longer available , but there are substitutes available for R12 cars like W123 , W126 and so on .I suggest you look at the price of Halfords 'gas' again . £60 plus £10 deposit for the old stuff , closer to £100 for the new stuff.
Glad I stocked up a few summers ago.
R134a is the best substitute for R12. All the others are sketchyMy cars use either R12 or R134a ; the prices were for R134a ; and I did specify in my post that it was R134a I was talking about as R12 is no longer available , but there are substitutes available for R12 cars like W123 , W126 and so on .
The best advice is the advice you have already been given, several times. Take it to a specialist as arranged. So here I stand, leant a lot guys!! Thanks
rechecked info and says refrigerant pressure 0! So the KF guy is right?
Despite a full tank, and no obvious leaks it shows up as empty?
So hopefully sensor kaput? Any other differentials? and costs
Gonna take it midweek to a specialist
ps
while I have this software, could I look for other codes?
One showed something like ' AIR insufficient flow bank1' P0491
I tried scrolling down but there is a large volume of info, from manual to automatic
Anyway I could just look for faults? or faulty codes
You can’t erase the code, because you still have low pressure. Thanks, I clicked on gasoline and it took me to the fault codes for ac
'Refrigerant pressure low'
Erased the code and still shows up as fault code
So basically can't erase the code!!
The Kwik fit chappie did say that despite the tank being full of refrigerant and no obvious leaks, it still showed up as 'empty'You can’t erase the code, because you still have low pressure.
GroanIf the aircon machine says the pressure is correct, but you car says it’s empty, it does point to a faulty sensor.
The system will need draining again to replace the sensor.
Does it have to be an indi MB specialist?Better off at an indie, can scan and actually pinpoint fault, fix it and refill.
Oh , I DID check Halfords website before posting ; they only list R134a on there and it is currently £62 , including deposit , so if you return an empty , you will pay £52 , or less if you have a trade card .I suggest you look at the price of Halfords 'gas' again . £60 plus £10 deposit for the old stuff , closer to £100 for the new stuff.
Glad I stocked up a few summers ago.
