Acetone in Fuel to increase MPG?

Do not try it

I tried it on another car (4.2 engine) it worked for a few weeks and started causing issues on the injectors, my 2 cents.
By the way, what is your MPG (l/100 KM) on the C180K)

Hope this would help you, ended up more expensive with injectors replacement

I'm not sure about the acetone due to possibly reduced lubrication and increased solvent level but this product mentioned on their website might be useful.
I've heard of it before for use in diesels but it says it can apply to petrol engines as well.

Having said this I'm sure it's basic component is vegetable based so wonder if a shot of Bio diesel might have the same effect.
It certainly is excellent at cleaning diesel injection systems and reducing smoke, whilst adding lubricity.

MPG = depends how I drive.

My old commute - minimum of 35mpg, upto 40mpg.

Current commute - 29mpg (too much stop start traffic... )

UK or US Gallons

Are those US or Imperial (UK) Gallons? i have the 04 prefacelift and I am getting little bit more than 16 MPG (US Gallon) in town but this is mostly stop and go driving with allot of hills, i am not complaining as comparing the C180 to my previous trailblazer with 8.5 to 10 US MPG.

I found that using the sprintbooster rationally will help MPG allot, the biggest issue is controlling my self to use it rationally.

It's 100% snake oil and it can damage plastics in the fuel system.

I tried it over a 3 month period and got a 0MPG increase.

I've been using acetone for about 3 years at 660:1 ratio with diesel in my E300D multi valve 606-912 engine with no turbo.
I get 4 MPG more and a little more oomph, it's very noticable on this docile engine.
I Recently converted to running on filtered used vegetable oil with a 5% unleaded petrol mix and acetone, no MPG figures yet.
Runs nice and smooth, smells good too.

Agreed. Does anyone here know what acetone does to rubber? How many rubber items are in our fuel injected petrol cars?

Acetone if used in a vehicle not designed for multi-fuel, can destroy diaphragms, hoses, o-rings, and more. I have found that the best way to achieve better mileage is first to use high quality gasoline, and second, recalibrate your driving style.

My wife thinks she saves money buy using cheap, rot-gut fuel. I corrected her thinking one day by using a top grade makers fuel and then compared the mileage difference between the two fuels. It was cheaper to use high quality over the cheaper fuel that used ethanol. Ethanol lowers gas mileage too.

Cheers,
Blake

I have the same car and am getting about the same. UK gallons.

Thats not good at all for the engine. It was never made to burn used vegetable oil, ESPECIALLY if it's not heated first.
