Hi
Car changes up and down no problem, randomly shows F on dashboard, stop car, restart, all good till next time.
Anyone had one replaced,if so,how much or were you "ripped off"by whoever.
Grateful for feedback.

Hi when F on dash are there any other warning lights on dash ? Does it bang into gear then F apears on dash?

I take it it is a clutchless manual.

It is quite likely that the control unit for the clutch has gone kaput. The control unit and pump are one unit at about £600. Get it on a Star first.

Hi Been away,
Thanks for feedback
Car is fully auto, car randomly goes into F,nothing else on dash.
No particular situation influences this happening.
Anytime,anyhow,anywhere.
One place plugged in free and P1872 came up (gear selector)plus a couple of other.
Suggested seeing a guy with better diagnostic gear.
Said he'd do it, 6hours at £50 an hour.
That's where another F sprang to mind.

did they use a star machine if not get it put on star first poss may be gear selector would need star to confirm

Hi,Anyone got any ideas as to why two different places (not dealers) are saying that they'll need 4hours + to diagnose the symptoms I've given at £65 an hour.

Thanks

I really cant see why they want 4 hours + to diagnose it.

Has the car actually been on a star machine to have the faults diagnosed or just another type of diagnostic machine.

Also reading the above post you was told it has a selector fault why was you quoted 6 hours for him to fix it.

Where abouts are you based

It sounds like a selector module issue then. As Willow has advised it needs to go on a Star IMO for an hour at the most

Hi

Based near Northampton at present,Dealer only place with star, and I wouldn't let them near my car again.
The two prices are just for diagnosis.
Place as big as Northampton and no at specialist here.
Get me out of here.

I still really cant see how come they are charging that much for diagnosis as they have a fault code to go on.

Depending on what part of northampton it is i might be willing to travel to have a look at it for you if you wanted

Hi,
Just had diagnosis done, cost less than £50
P1872 signal from electronic selector lever module not plausible and
P1856 selection lever position detection faulty

Anyone who's read this thread, have any words of wisdom?

Many thanks

Hi

Have I got a result (or not)

Been quoted £314 for part and 2 hours labour £120.
Not able to repair the selector.
