How long ago did you buy it?

If it was less than 6 months ago, then don't spend any money on the car yourself, the trader should cover the cost in full.
Only got it about 4week ago but he is blaming Mercedes as he said there was nothing wrong with it when he sold it

You should have gone to him and let him sort it....at that point he was liable for any issues occurring within the first 6 months. Taking it to another dealer has muddied the waters and will make it more difficult for you.

Hi it only went to Mercedes because it had out standing recalls

True.......
I'm not quite sure where you stand tbh. The fault was not there before you went to Merc....so thats up to them to put right....but then if the issues were caused by an Adblue delete... then it's down to the seller....in fact you could return the car due to it not being even technically legal to sell or drive a car with an Adblue delete on the road in the UK. Insurance will also probably be void if you were caught. The issue is proof...... which the dealer may well have removed during the update.

On a more general note, if there's indeed an issue with the AdBlue system on the car, then it's not a keeper... AdBlue issues often do not go away easily.

I am going to phone my local indi specialist to see what he thinks is wrong with it if it’s going to be to expensive might be cheaper going down the adblue delete route

There's no such thing as a cheap AdBlue fix... and these AdBlue issues tend to persist.

I wouldn't advise AdBlue delete, for a whole range of reasons, but it's your car.

BTW, AdBlue delete isn't cheap either - expect to pay between £400 and £600. And keep in mind that the car must never see a dealer after that, or you'll be risking to lose the AdBlue delete.

My guess is that this is why the previous owner never had the recall done - it's likely to be the 'Dieselgate' engine recall - have a search for it.

Can you answer my question in post 24 . ?

I thought that this was the Dieselgate update + software update + new NOx sensors - all covered under the Dieselgate 'recall'? It's not unheard of.

Yet no eml all this time ... Mmmm. Mind boggles.

The updates are done free anyways.

Sorry , but they wouldn't just change 2 Nox sensors F.O.C . Not converse with you about them or not give you paperwork afterwards.

Well just what they said because apparently they needed done but I got it booked in a indi specialist on Friday but I got a phone call from the dealer I bought the car from who said he will sort it out I sent him a message saying that my daughter is a Lawyer which she is and told them that if the car had been adblue delete it was technically illegal to drive so he is going to make appointment with his mechanic and get back to me and get it sorted out so I just cancelled my appointment on Friday so hopefully everything should get sorted out

Such a heartwarming story for others with Nox sensors failure, mercedes now just change both for free . Wonderful news 😁.
