Adblue

Such a heartwarming story for others with Nox sensors failure, mercedes now just change both for free . Wonderful news 😁.
Phoned Mercedes to see if they could send me a receipt for the work done but they closed a 5pm but the receptionist said she would pass on the message but i did ask her why there was no charge for the nox sensors and she said because that year a model was called up for that work

Fantastic news :-) which model and year are you referring to ?

Looks like they might be replacing the NOx sensors now as a matter of course when they do the Dieselgate update - there have been many reports of people coming back to the dealer with complains about faulty NOx sensors following the software update.

Lol..

So this is what bodged looks like in the next owner's tenure.
Maybe its previous owner will come forward and explain all that was done. Then again, maybe not. That's as likely as this forum coming down on posters who advocate and advise on this. Serves the forum members well don't you think?

I would not do an Adblue delete as I would never buy a derv with Adblue....but if I had without realising....and I would not know about if not for being on this forum.....I could well consider it. It's just too expensive to fix multiple times for the average bloke. I've not read much about people having problems with poor quality deletes.
What I don't understand is why Merc can't make a working, reliable system when other marques can. I've not seen a single thread about it on the other make car forums I frequent... so it can't be that difficult.

Another aspect to consider, Mercedes jumped in early and had Adblue in place 2 years before the date that the lower emissions had to be met.
Other manufacturers, (Fiat Ducato, Ford Mondeo for example) were producing diesels that passed the lower emissions 2 years after that date without having any Adblue system!

They've spent 10 years perfecting it 👌👌

Someone I know with a 4 year old Peugeot Partner van on 33k miles has just been quoted £1500 for a new AdBlue pump. They're going for a delete instead at £350.

There's a remap place near me has all kinds of vehicles of all makes in for ad blue deletes.

A quick search on Google shows dozens (possibly hundred) of garages in the UK who openly advertise AdBlue delete:

The wording they use is CYA, though, here's an example from one the websites offering AdBlue delete:

"...our services are specifically designed with the intention of assisting in AdBlue system removal for off-road or non-public road use..."

Yeah, right.

Yeah, right.

They don't care , they just want your money for a quick fix , something alot people are happy with, if your keeping the car ,then why not ? Who's checking for Nox anyways ...

It will be interesting what all they people will do when it does become part of the test.... which it will sure as night follows day. It won't be difficult to tell as Adblue lowers Nox by around 90 percent!

Never going to happen, pure scaremongering at best.

It already in the pipeline so im told by my ususl test place. Test equipment is already available....and we SHOULD test for it IMO...its one of the nastiest emissions health wise along with particulate matter... and one of the main reasons ULEZ zones exist.

There was a consultation document last year which included measuring both particulate and NOx emissions as part of the MOT. The former is relatively straightforward and already done in some European countries. NOx is more difficult as it has to be done under load. If it requires any significant investment in the test centres I suspect it won't happen, given that diesel is on the way out anyway. But I agree it should.

Where's the MOT checks for egr delete and dpf delete on non ad blue diesels ? 1000's on the roads right now . MOT costs will possibly rise to £100 to pay for Nox sniffing equipment at every MOT garage. Most MOT centres I visit seem to lazy to even check for emissions of any kind on a modern diesel , they simply don't see black out the back on revving ,so they don't bother ,let alone checking for Nox levels .
