Adding reverse camera - do I need Av module?

Hi

Here's my first ever post.

I was advised by a local specialist that I needed an AV module in order to fit a reverse camera to my w204 c220 cdi sport, NTG4 Comand APS with 6DVD changer. However, I am not convinced as I have seen the back of the unit and can see the green fakra connection port.

I have purchased a Veyron AV module but have not yet fit this in. Do I really need this to connect my reverse camera to the unit or will it connect straight onto the comand? If I can connect straight on, would I need to recode anything?

Also, if I did add the av module, would it give me anything above what I already have with my unit?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Faisal

You do not. It has a reverse camera input that just needs enabling (coding) (and you should have a NTSC camera).

The proper Mercedes camera is superb compared to most aftermarket - but kit quite expensive (see Mercedes Comand Navigation and Audio Specialists )

If you have Media Interface, on NTG4 you lose the video AUX function that it has when you add Reverse camera (same input used)

I don't know what the Veyron AV module gives you.

Thanks Richard. I thought that was the case.

Is coding the unit easy or will I have to take it to Merc specialist?

A specialist with the appropriate diagnostic tool is needed
