Gents
require your advice, I'm looking to purchase a used merc and have the option of a 1999 / T, C240 Elegance, 46k FSH or a 2000 / V, E320CDi 78k FSH, both the same price, which do I go for?
Cheers.

How many miles you planning to do p/y ? The 240 will cost more at the pumps although it will give better performance . However the 320 cdi is a bigger car and newer , and IMHO a nicer car

E320cdi without a doubt.

E-class is more comfortable in general. And that particular diesel engine will be more fun (quicker) and have better consumption than the 240.

E320cdi

Worth more when you sell it, more MPG, better performance, probably more options as standard? (do you know what version it is?)

About 10 - 12k per year, the owner of the E320 said it smoked a lot when you kicked down, is this common or more importantly serious?

It's an E320 Elegance tip

Most diesels smoke when u kickdown... but it depends how much smoke. If its severe then its not normal.

Hello,

Yes certainly the 320cdi then, only the classic could be 'basic'

The elegance in that model could have some nice options which I doubt the 240 would have.

Check the W210 E320 CDI for the dreaded tinworm, in the usual places.

I would buy that though if it has a clean body.
