Advice needed on paint touch up

No plastic item painted is the same as metal bodywork they always look a slightly different shade

Phew! If the rest is really good and looks original then I would shy away from any respray work, it will cost hundreds and a good chance that the shade difference (more likely than not) will look worse than a carefully touched in repair. The suggestion of a bumper protector is a good one.
If a bodyshop does the job and you can tell its been repaired then they can't have done a good job, have always been told by my preffered body shops that if you can see where they've been then they have failed.

I would agree with you - but just look at the number of light metallic patchwork quilts on the road. It is really hard to match silver new to old.

They don't go down anywhere near that far though...

Personally, on a car more than a decade old, I'd apply a £50 boot protector which would hide the problem.

RGM are excellent and I've proved that fitting process is "idiot proof"
