I guess in a nutshell - it's only theortically worth more than a normal 124 estate due to it's rarity, but that is greatly quashed with the high mileage. Hence it's value is probably much lower than an average-low mileage 124 E36T (not that there's much of an 'average' with only seven in total!)
Sad reality is that 250k is only a number and it's probably in similar or perhaps better condition to many other 15 year old 150k (average) mileage examples You only have to look at driver's seat, steering wheel etc and the fact that it's effectively almost a 1-owner car to corroborate that. And the fact that this owner had over £50k to spend on a car in the mid 90s speaks volumes about the kind of provenance the car has (again - £1.5k for new wings, air con overhauled for £1k etc)
Shame that as buyers we're all so dismissive of cars with higher mileage, but I do agree that it'll hurt it's value quite a bit.
Must be worth something to someone - I don't see £3k as unachievable (afterall, you wanted it at £2k+ as in it's original condition).
You know what, I'd give it a good home but I wouldn't give £3k for it. But that's only because I don't need/want one really. I suspect that just like you though, if it had been in line for the scrapper I'd have got £2k out for it to save it if nothing else.
Hope it finds an appreciative home, because it looks like a lovely car in all honesty. I encourage anyone to have a look at the other pics before commenting - it looks at least as nice as most other average 124s, don't slate it just for the odo reading first!
