Advice required on value of unusual car - W124 E36 estate

I guess in a nutshell - it's only theortically worth more than a normal 124 estate due to it's rarity, but that is greatly quashed with the high mileage. Hence it's value is probably much lower than an average-low mileage 124 E36T (not that there's much of an 'average' with only seven in total!)

Sad reality is that 250k is only a number and it's probably in similar or perhaps better condition to many other 15 year old 150k (average) mileage examples :o You only have to look at driver's seat, steering wheel etc and the fact that it's effectively almost a 1-owner car to corroborate that. And the fact that this owner had over £50k to spend on a car in the mid 90s speaks volumes about the kind of provenance the car has (again - £1.5k for new wings, air con overhauled for £1k etc)

Shame that as buyers we're all so dismissive of cars with higher mileage, but I do agree that it'll hurt it's value quite a bit.

Must be worth something to someone - I don't see £3k as unachievable (afterall, you wanted it at £2k+ as in it's original condition).

You know what, I'd give it a good home but I wouldn't give £3k for it. But that's only because I don't need/want one really. I suspect that just like you though, if it had been in line for the scrapper I'd have got £2k out for it to save it if nothing else.

Hope it finds an appreciative home, because it looks like a lovely car in all honesty. I encourage anyone to have a look at the other pics before commenting - it looks at least as nice as most other average 124s, don't slate it just for the odo reading first!

I remember when you put this on the forum after you bought it. I still think its an unusual car and a rarity. I'd suggest putting it on a couple of enthusiast websites/ magazines and ebay, then see what offers come through. It helps that the car is now "cleaned up".

Well done for saving it verysideways. Whatever way you look at it, its a lot of car for £2k....hardly worth selling it really.

Shame you have so many other cars, and only one set of arms/legs :o)

It's a testiment to Mercedes Benz.

I'd put it on eBay with no reserve for 10 days and let people bid. You won't loose money on it.

Or maybe phone Mercedes and see if they'd like it, seeing as it was one of seven and I can't imagine many of these are left now. I know if someone offered me a rare car of the brands I sell for not an awful lot of money I'd be inclinded to buy it and keep it in the showroom or for shows and stuff.

Verisideways:Glad to hear you car has gone to a good home

Went to a very nice chap in Bristol.

Not the best offer i had from a financial perspective but he seemed like a genuine enthusiast and he was persistent :)
