Has anyone used the lower ball joints/suspention parts that GSF sell?
I’ve just fitted one of their steering dampers (sachs) and am thinking about replacing the lower ball joints and a few other suspension bits.
The reasons I am thinking of changing the parts are the car has always had a few slight suspension rattles (front and back) since I got it & the n/s suspension has just taken a bit of a beating thanks to a local boyo (see the moron drivers post in incidents section).
I’ve no idea how much the lower ball joints are at the stealer but are very cheap at GSF (£16). I’ve used pattern parts on my other cars (non merc) with varying results and don’t want to have to do the job twice. But if they are up to the job it might save a few ££'s compared to genuine parts.

Any thoughts??

As with all parts I would say to enquire how much the proper parts are. I don't think the ball joints are that much new for genuine ones anyway. :)

Which would you prefer given a 'money no object' scenario, or if they were identical in price. ;)

Ball joints are about £25 from the dealer.

It's only recently occured to me why MB are heavy on front ball joints.
The suspension spring acts downwards on the lower arm which then pushes the wheel carrier down via the balljoint.
Most other cars use Macpherson strut supension so the lower joint literally holds the hub carrier to the lower arm. Much less wear is created.
