Number 1 son has a 2009 A160. Last summer when out with him we asked him to put the air con on - it didn't work. He claimed not to have used it before so he wasn't aware it didn't work.
Sent him to have it re-gassed and he came home saying that there was a hole in the condenser and replacement would be £300 to £400 so he didn't bother. So the system has been open to the atmosphere for at least 6 months.
Jump forward to today, we needed to replace one of the headlights and to do this we have removed the bumper assembly. We now have easy access to the condenser.
A quick check on line and we can buy a replacement condenser under £80 which includes the drier.
Googling refitting a condenser brings up mixed instructions regarding putting pag oil in the new condenser. Some advising putting a quantity of pag oil in and some saying that the oil is added when the system is re-gassed.
Can any experts here advise?
Also, it seems there are 3 grades of pag oil - pag 46, pag 100 & pag 150. If we need to get some, what is the right grade?
