I had the same prob last year on way to Germany the air con didn't work car only 2 years old with 10k on clock so pretty underused. took it to MB dealers expecting stone hole or something like that but it turned out the condenser had failed so was covered by manufacturers warranty. if it had been a stone then they wouldn't pay up which is only fair

I,m all booked in with local dealer, so, fingers crossed it is covered !

I had a condenser go too seems to be a common fault...

Hmmm....... I am guessing its not overly expensive, even if you were out of warranty ?

Part of this problem stems from the fact that people generally turn the air con off through winter which can cause pipes to dry out etc and the fault will only arise in summer once it's put on full blast.

Expensive job as bumper off and quite time intensive. Warranty bill was nearly £800 and that was at warranty rates....

Yep ! That's dear enough for me !

Warranty Re-Newal it is then , come 7th November.......!

Condenser radiator is around £400 i believe.

In what way has it packed up? I had mine fail where the AC light would flash 3 times and go out, and it was the pressure sensor was faulty. That part is £75 + vac and gas.

No flashing light, just blowing warm air out, when set to cold.....

I`ve no idea guys. Let the dealer sort it under Warranty, that's what they get paid for eh ??

same with mine but nearly all the joins/seams blew as if too much pressure. All ok now

Funny you should say that. Before it failed, did you notice a slight hissing sound behind the dash ? Like an aerosol can being gently squeezed ?
I did, but I just assumed that was the AC compressor re-charging itself or something......

The gas contains lubricant which keeps the seals in good working order, if the aircon isn't used for long periods then the seals dry out and leak.

If your car is under warranty then I'd assume that it's under 3 years old so it's more likely that something mechanical/electrical has packed up as the seals take some time to dry out.

I wouldn't bother 'kicking off' at the dealer, it's either covered or not, be cool.

i had a hissing noise inside car...but then realised it was me farting:D
