Mercedes clk 320 conv
I took my clk 320 conv for an aircon regas at Merit tyres. 45 mins later the man stated that they had refilled the gas but it had made no difference so did not charge me. I am aware that the pulley belts and the pulley itself have recently been replaced. Anyone with an idea what may be amiss? Thankyou.

Should have said it is a 1999 Clk 320 elegance convertible!

I had the same problem on my last car which was a CLK.
New compressor fixed it @ £730 in 2010 at an Indie.

I hope it is none of those! I read somewhere that after someone had the belts changed they needed to short a solenoid or relay to make it kick in?

I'd check out the expansion valve too if those other items mentioned check out all ok,if the valve fails the system wont work !

The front air con heat exchanger is the usual problem.
(although it usually takes more than 45 minutes to leak away)

Get it charged and make sure they include a fluorescent dye in the gas/oil charge.
If you then go round the air-con components with an ultra-violet light (in the dark !!), the leaking charge will glow with a clear green fluorescent glow.
I've just checked mine in this way and it was the front heat exchanger.

If you don't have a UV lamp, any air-con specialist should have one.

We've had 3 E-class cars and the heat exchanger has failed on all 3 cars.
It was not too-expensive and not too-difficult to replace.
Not sure about the lay-out on your car.
