All this snow!

It is a winter wonderland round here, it's been snowing since this morning. I've just been out in the Volvo S80 diesel. It is shod with a set of Continental winter tyres and is completely unphased by the snow. The bloody thing doesn't even wriggle around. Much though I hate WWD cars I hate to admit it but it has a RWD car comprehensively beaten in these conditions.

Just as well really, a woman sheltering the heads of her two children against the snow under her coat ran straight out in front of me. She didn't even look. I reckon 1.5 tonnes of car would have harmed them rather more than a few snow flakes on their heads. Fortunately I managed to stop.

Those were the days. Nowadays to shoot pistols without fear of being nicked you have to be a criminal.

Could always give a Muzzle Loading Pistol a try, great fun, BIG bangs and huge amounts of smoke. :bannana:

It is indeed. Everything called off around 11.00 but I had to stick around until 18.00, by which time things had got a lot worse.

No problem with the fresh snow but all the untreated roads had packed down and polished up nicely. Some main roads treated but very slushy.

We had to drive up to Olympia at 07:00 yesterday and back at about 10pm, even some of the roads in Kensington were pretty bad (-5.5C when we left). We had planned to take the Vito as we were competing with the dogs (at the International Xmas horse show) but went in Mrs BTB's Audi instead (FWD) which was fine.

I've just driven 110 miles from home to work this morning no problems at all.:bannana:

Just a shame it had to be in my daughters roller skate otherwise known as a Ford Ka. God you feel everything I was knackered when I got to work :( Thankfully had an email from Mercedes AMG BMW alloy wheels & tyres, UK wheel alloys

These with Dunlop Wintersports fitted are being shipped today :thumb:

What are the chances of me seeing them before Christmas?

Spent about 90 mins this morning clearing white stuff from my drive so that I can get to work tomorrow and spoke with my neighbour whose car I had noticed was missing from his drive.

He works about 15 miles away at the BMW Cowley plant and drives a 320d estate. Turns out he left the plant on Saturday afternoon to come home and ended up stuck on the A34 for hours, eventually getting home around 2:30am Sunday morning. Apparently the problem was the modest upward gradient where the A34 meets the M40 at J9 which nothing could get up. He spent a number of hours helping push one car at a time up the slope, and said there was still a massive queue on the A34 behind him when he finally got through.

So where's his car now? Parked up about a couple of hundred yards away because he couldn't persuade it to play any more
