Yup. was just reading through that I now get it about the built in multi changer ..... yet to see a photo of one with that option

As i thought thou, my phone kit and current CD changer will be redundant if i go for this, but it will give e some things to sell for sure still not convinced on the bluetooth in the 2.5 vs a SAP setup, utilising the external antenna and putting the phone into reduced power mode, and the ability to run the sim card directly in the SAP adapter is quite handy

Aflie told me my existing phone pre-wire could be used as comfort telephony - an option available in cars that have the latest audio or comand units with full built in bluetooth. My car came from factory with an NTG2.5 Audio 20 unit with full bluetooth connectivity built in. Check with him if this is also the case for you if you want to use the SAP cradle with the Comand NTG2.5.

Existing UHI phone (option 386) can be converted to comfort phone but it basically requies all new parts. That said, it therefore can be added to a car that has no UHI already.

The comfort phone system is completely different to UHI. It uses a different mounting plate and connection to the head unit is via BT. However, it will use the cars antenna and charge the phone if a suitable cradle is used. the SAP V3 cradle will also charge a phone as it has a small USB port on the front.

That's what i have SAP v3 on UHI, Telephone option number 386 (Convenience telephony) and Option 354 Telephone antenna.
COMAND APS i have, option 527 COMAND APS with navigation system with option 819 CD changer, MP3-capable, for 6 CDs

This thread is excellent, good info. However I cannot follow the instructions.

I assume you press the keys in order (key sequence) from any menu, have tried a few, even tried with the unit off?

instructions hangup +6+* for eng menu.

Hangup = redphone key

+ = the + * magnify key, however this is like texting and press twice for +?
6 = 6

problem is this doesn't work on mine, nor does simply following the sequence. Hangup + 6 + *
My car is a 2010 gl, multi dvd player command sd slot so sure its the 2.5 command.

What am I doing wrong..

Since I am on the subject is there a how to for removing it so I connect a reverse camera (can I switch that on via the eng menu or does it need the dealer)

Keys in order, but don't let go of any .. i.e

press and hold phone-hangup, don't let go
press and hold * (and dont let go of the 2 buttons you now have held)
press and hold 6 (and dont let go of any until it enters engineering mode)

thank goodness I don't use my real name.... My collegues in work would be more than amused that I could not work out that plus was not the plus key but press all three at once. I run an engineering team of 80 odd people and responsible for engineering projects on multi billion pound offshore oil platforms. One of my team recommended this forum to me as a regular user....

It is hangup + * + 6 you need to use to get into the engineering menu.

Not sure, but I understand that newer models need SCN coding using (real) STAR before they can be used. Mine didn't though.

As far as I know there is NO way that this can be enabled on any COMAND unit without use of additional (non-MB) module...?

I meant to say that you can't enable video-in-motion on COMAND using menus or STAR... only through an external module that sits on the speed signal input and tricks COMAND into thinking the vehicle is stationery... as far as I know, anyway.
