Hi, I’m just wondering if I should be concerned with the state of a couple of my wheels.

The protective lacquer is coming off them, and it looks like "rising damp" under the lacquer that is making it peal off.

Should the wheels be OK like this, I presume it's just cosmetic and will make the wheels look crappy.

I'd like to strip off the "infected" lacquer and put some new lacquer on them but have no idea what lacquer i should use.

Heres a small picture of it, if you want bigger pictures with more detail then it's on my Site

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Keith, those wheels need refurbishment. NOW. Basically, you have water ingress under the lacquer that has oxidized the alloy and made the lacquer blister off.

Nasty. Will only get worse so they need a professional refurbishment. Not expensive compared to new wheels, £45 to £60 each seesm to be the range but maybe a bit more if some repairs required first.
