Hello all,

I am looking for a bit of help when it comes to alloy size compatibility. I drive a W166 2016 250d GLE. I have attached a photo of the specs for the alloys I am interested in they appear to be from a W167 GLE.

Welcome to MBClub. I think you will be lucky if they do fit. The wheels you would like to buy are staggered (ie wider at the rear axle than the front axle, and the W166 generation GLE was not supplied from the factory with staggered wheels.

The wheels you want to buy have quite a different offset compared to what I would expect for your generation of GLE, and at the rear the offset looks about right but they are a full inch wider than the widest factory wheel for even the W166 GLE 63.

The first thing to do is confirm the size of the wheels fitted to your car at the factory. You’re looking for some text in the format 10j x 21 ET49 or similar. You can either:

1. Read the Certificate of Confirmity, which will be in the book pack supplied with the vehicle when new.

2. Find your existing wheels on Alloy Wheels Direct Website using the link below.

3. Remove the wheels and look on the back face the spokes, and you’ll see something like your photo.

Next you need to confirm the size of the tyres fitted to your car at the factory. You’re looking for some text in the format 295/35 21 Y 102 or similar. You can either:

1. Read the Certificate of Confirmity, which will be in the book pack supplied with the vehicle when new.

2. Look at the sidewalls of your existing tyres.

3. Look at your existing wheels on Alloy Wheels Direct Website using the link below, and see which tyres the website suggests.

Finally you need to find out whether tyres are supplied with the wheels you wish to buy and if so then what they are. You’re looking for some text in the format 295/35 21 Y 102 or similar.

Armed with this information either I or another member will be able to guide you further.

Final thing which would be useful, whilst on the Alloy Wheels Direct website, look for the wheels you want to buy listed for the W167 and post back with a link. Also see if it lists the same wheel for the W166, as if it’s compatible then it may be listed.

Closest I got to a no was the rear only going to a 10 j . On most alloy wheels websites and the w166 being a square set up.

W167 ones are here

Yes for the W166 the widest factory wheel was 10j, largest diameter was 21-inches, and all wheels the same size (ie square). The rear as in the OP’a potential new wheels are 11j at the rear. Th front offset looks too high too.
