Ambient light retro fit

Hi All,
I was reading a post on here about the facelifted 203's having and Ambient light feature in the rear view mirror..
Does anyone know if there is any reason why I couldnt fit one of these to my pre facelifted 203 (August 2003)..

Has anyone done it?

I would imagine all you would need is a RV mirror from a suitable donor car and connection to an ignition-on power supply.
I haven't heard of anyone doing this, but its not going to be too difficult I wouldn't have thought.
You maybe wouldnt even need a new mirror if you are willing to drill a hole in your existing mirror.
Then fit an LED light as per the other thread.

Not really worth it TBH, it produces a very small amount of light. I'm tempted to mod mine and install a brighter, white LED.

There's a little cover on the bulb...remove it ...hey presto...a white light!!

We see posts from people now & again from people who have had the car for years and didn't know the ambient light was there!

Have it too bright and it can be a bit distracting. Specially if you have an Aventgarde model with the aluminium trim. You can get reflections that annoy specially when driving down very dark unlit roads.
You do need to get the amount of light just right. Not enough and it might as well not be there and too bright and its distracting.
I found that after I replaced the old blown filament bulb with an LED, it was a little too bright.
I dimmed it down by applying a spot of black permanent marker pen on the tip of the LED. Its now perfect for me.
