AMG C-Class, I need help

Who would bother rebadging their car with something that would make it stand out like a sore thumb?
If you are going to rebadge, then why not make it into a C32?
That would be easier and cause less doubters.
Personally I reckon its a geniune car but was produced only in a very small numbers by way of a test run. Whether or not it was diesel remains to be confirmed , although it does seem likely. The fact it hasnt got a CDI badge, to me, neither proves or disproves anything.

Maybe I forgot something?
Maybe not the right year?

Please help me

Still not convince of the C27 with the lack of an AMG kit, spoiler, and where would the chrome pipes go?

Im not saying they never made one, but in my eyes thats simply a C270 CDI minus an '0' and CDI + an AMG badge

Heres an early C32 AMG with its kit:

And a C30Cdi AMG from around the same time as the 'C27'. Note how the AMG kit doesnt have that lip at the bottom like the C27 picture does with the standard bumper. why would AMG make a car without the kit? - re-badge methinks :)

I always thought the C30CDI AMG was infact the 5 cyclinder C270 engine. Not sure if it was bored out to 3.0 litres though....so why would there be a C27CDI AMG ?

I think that's a "re-badge"..

But having now read the list 2 posts above I do see there is a C27 so I'm now confused..

As a footnote..........although perhaps not the final word on this subject.....is that AMG produced 2 very limited runs based on the 2 seater sports R129
Both had V12 engines and there was the 7.3 litre 525bhp SL73 and the very rare 7.0 litre 495bhp SL70.
Has anyone ever even seen one?
And before anyone asks, no, I dont have any photos.

Obviously the last paragraph in this extract didnt convince you............
Mercedes-Benz Owners' Association news

I have just emailed AMG asking them the question whether or not the C27 was a real car that went into production or not. Or whether it was just an abandoned project. Or whether only one or two pre-production models got built.
Hopefully I may get an answer. I will keep you posted.

Just had a reply to my earlier enquiry (see post 29, above) from AMG in Germany.............copied directly from the email and pasted here................

Dear Mr. Warren

Thank you for your inquiry.

AMG never built a C27. It seems that someone has a C270 CDI, has eliminated the 0 und add the AMG-logo.

So all those that reckoned it was a fake were RIGHT ! ! ! ! !
Well done to all you.........
And a big raspberry for me...............................

Nice one for emailing them/posting their reply.

To be honest, I didnt completely dismiss the possiblity as I said above, but the fact that car didnt even have an AMG kit was what looked dodgy.

Shame on that books author :D

It was only the fact that the photo was published in a proper book that led me to believe it was a real car. I would have expected the author to have checked first. Its not difficult.
The only nagging thing that made me doubt its existence was the fact that there is absolutely no information on a C27 anywhere on the net. I would have expected a few articles at least.
Anyway, thats cleared that up. Sorry if I mislead anyone.

AMG have just emailed me again...............
just to confirm that they never made a C27..............

Here is the email exactly as received.......

Hi...........
What I did was open the AMG website and on the home page there is a "contact" box at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest you make first contact in this way. They got back to me very quickly.
Good German efficiency...............

Here is their website hotlink..............
