AMG Thefts (Again)

As much as we think we would go all Rambo on someone who is stealing your pride and joy, their fear of being caught and want to flee more than likely outweighs our want to stop them.

I have a friend who is a violent lunatic, the nastiest bloke I know by a very long way. I could talk for hours about some of the scrapes and scraps that he has been in, nearly all started by himself.

We were having a conversation about being burgled and he surprised me by admitting that he would be hiding under the bed covers like any sane person because the intruder has the upper hand every time by being prepared mentally for a potential confrontation when the homeowner is not - and is probably naked!

Lmao!!

Its not exclusive to you guys believe me. In the last 4 years I have had scrotes trying to pinch my car keys from the house using various techniques, probably about 6 times. Cars in that time: A5 Cab, TTRS, C63 AMG, RS4. Common denominator here....Audi.
when the police could be ****d coming round once, they did say that `powerful` Audis were the most attempted on their books. Now I have a portable sensor that I just set up around different positions of the driveway. Caught 2 lads only the other night, shining a torch through my letter box at 3.50 am !

Where do you live, out of interest? Sounds pretty extreme but there's obviously 1. a lucrative market for stolen cars 2. little deterrent for doing the crime 3. low risk of being caught.

To be honest if someone gets through my gates, through the garage door, continues through the alarm sounding, dogs barking and the loud cold start...they may as well have it and I'll claim on insurance. As for keys, I do leave them in a safe place in the house, but anyone shining a torch through my letter box would be stared back at by two Doberman which seem to scare people even when we walk down the street, tails wagging. I'd recommend a dog if you don't have one, seems to work well as security on top of being your faithful companion.

Short of a shogun, I'm not sure how better I could protect my assets.

I live in a small town in Cheshire. High priced housing and lots of nice cars in the neighbourhood. The police reckon its because, we are only 7 mins from a major motorway that connects Manchester and Liverpool. The thieves come off the motorway, drive 7/8 minutes up the road then reach our neighbourhood. I don't think its just one gang either, there are several. We do have a black Labrador, who used to bark ( deeply) at anything that moved, but he is getting old now. I am a light sleeper, so any noise around the house I am up. I have seen these guys at least 3 times and managed to scare them off without actually going outside. I have 2 kids, so I am always on my guard regarding our property. Unfortunately its just the world we live in. My next door neighbour incidentally, has an old Ford Fiesta, and a 4 year old Ford Kuga, and they don't target him. he told me he runs those cars for that very reason. He does not want the hassle. I like my cars and bikes and I wont let these assholes deprive me of my toys !

Hi The Don,

You can pick them up at any DIY store. It is a simple infra red passive heat/motion sensor, the same thing you would have in your house as part of a standard install burglar alarm.
The only difference is, you have the sensor, and an alarm that pairs with it wirelessly.
You can position the sensor wherever you like and it covers 180 degrees of vision. The alarm ( buzzer) we place at the top of our stairs so everyone can here it. Runs on batteries and you can turn it off during the day etc....
Only about £25.00 ! We just hide the sensor discreetly on a wall, in a tree,, anywhere just out of view really....

I checked the numbers on here Crime in UK Postcode Areas | Crime Statistics and was surprised to see 40 crimes were committed in May within a 1 mile radius of my home, I might review my security measures.

Very handy link! I live in an incredibly boring area for crime, no burglary or car theft, bit of shop lifting. Worst one with 15 is violence/sex.

I have one at home and they really work although my kids have more fun with it on a sunny day.

My highest is 11 and for anti-social behaviour - I suppose that this would be halved if I moved out. :o

ha ha looks good that ! The only problem is, they would see the hose pipe coming out under my garage door and across the footpath. Might find a way of hiding/disguising it though...... Cheers !

I'm torn between Remington and Philips at the moment.

My current clippers are Philips but not as good as previous ones.

I might try Remington next time.
