There's a good chance they were too badly kerb damaged to re-cut the lip, so the refurbisher filled and painted instead. Much easier to take care of in my opinion.
My 1999 E55 AMG has an original AMG 18's in the boot which is diamond cut. I hate it myself and prefer the all-over refurb. If I was to get them re-done I'd choose the 'sparkle silver' finish instead of flat silver, it looks amazing.
c36 17 and e55 18 were both diamond cut from factory, i had both 17`s and 18`s over 9 years and refurbed ones always start going milky when exposed to the elements, so in the end i got a brand new non refurbed set and changed over to non diamond cut 18s in the winter.
people just paint the whole wheel because of this when refurbing.
Anyone know where I could get my set refurbed by way of painted/powdercoated face's with highly hand polished lips that are left exposed and unlaquered?
