Here`s yesterday`s snap of `old faithfull`
Bit tatty but well serviced; just did a 500mile round trip the other day and averaged a tad over 40mpg. (brim to brim)

Note the "staggered" AMG (AwMyGod) rear wheels. When the front tyres are shot, the front Ronals will be following the rear Ronals, which are probably Pepsi cans by now.

Have a good Christmas, let`s not have any disaster stories.

Cheers.

At a guess, due to corrosion on the alloy wheels they no longer seal properly so the tyre keeps deflating.

Just like my old E300TD that got crashed (Now breaking for spares).
I've had the same problem with all the alloys for our three E class cars ... Two E300TDs and one E430.
Have had them shot-blasted and painted ... Cured the problem.
I use two steel wheels for snow tyres.
Did you know you can buy silver plastic wheel trims for the steel wheels.
They look quite smart ... Better than the black steel wheel.

I've had two of these E300TDs ... First-class work-horses.
Was really sad when my blue car got accident-damaged.

Thanks Johnsco,
I knew you were into 210 300td s ; - I read your tips when I renewed the front bushes.

and yes I`ll drop on some hub caps, sooner or later.

Thanks Neilz, They are all 15" at the mo. It`s an A/G with 16" ers. Plenty of 16" Vito trims. Wonder if they`d fit?

You could do as has been suggested and have the alloys re-painted or just sell them. I wouldn't be weighing in genuine wheels.

Overall, that looks an OK car...300TD are great motors...not incredibly fast, not incredibly efficient, but overall a great package, quick, quiet, reliable and comfy.

It makes "upgrading" to newer models a dilemma.

The MB wheel trims for the steel spare wheel that comes with the E300TD are:
Part A2104000125.
I got some from Inchcape a couple of years ago.
Present price is about £43 each.
They look good.

The alloy wheels will be basically sound unless impact-damaged.
All alloy wheels deteriorate around the seal area, but are easily refurbished as in post #11.

These cars are work-horses ... Not race-horses.
The one in the accident saved my life.
I was hit by a lunatic boy racer tearing up the wrong side of the road.
Car written-off ... But I walked away without a scratch.
Went straight out and bought another !!!

Thanks DM,

I thought I was "upgrading" when I bought the W203.

It can`t hold a candle to the 300.

As in posts #11 and #15.
I use two of the steel spare wheels for snow tyres.
I have snow tyres fitted to them for winter use.
I don't think they look at all bad.
