Hi all,

Putting aside the potential comments around like "Don't do it", etc... I'm not a boy racer or anything like that, just seen it on other cars and quite liked it (personal preference I guess).

I'd quite like to paint the calipers on my car, potentially red, and I'd like to hear comments from people that have done it and whether or not they've regretted doing it (for any reason).

I'm thinking red, but happy to hear any alternative colour suggestions based on the colour of the car, pics attached, the car is selenite grey.

Also considering debadging the car.

Also, I'd be incapable of doing this myself, so am looking for a place that could do the work, ideally both items, in the Hampshire area.

I trust that there would be no warranty implications?

Thanks.

Yep, go for it red is a good colour for calipers,
Why not do it yourself, fairly easy to do. I used Halfords red engine paint on mine, not Halfords red brake caliper paint as it's a brighter red which is what I wanted, also thicker so needed less coats. As for debadging
Yep again go for it, car looks better for it and is just that bit easier to clean. :)

A couple of a pictures of my Selenite (magno) with your wheels and red callipers for reference.
It may help your decision making.

+1 for red

I did my old w204 with bright red Hammerite paint looked great took two coats.
I am thinking of doing my w205 the same .
Debadge is a diy job fishing line and a hair dryer.
Good luck.✅

Thank you, they look really nice, that's exactly what I'm looking for for my car.

I have mine booked in with BCS in Nottingham after a few recommendations, they’re running some decent sales at the moment

I dunno, unless they're big fat 4 pot Brembos I tend to air on the side of the factory fresh look...

Or, go the whole hog and fit new 4 pots already painted... ;)

Well, other than being zinc coated (as near as damit to silver) that what they looked when they came out of the factory. ;)

Use smooth hammerite, done many cars with it and always works a treat and has that nice sheen that you will be after

Trust me Ash you will receive never ending emails about their ‘sales’ now :D they are constant :D

To be fair, I submitted for a qoute and didn’t hear anything back for ages, saw their sale on Facebook and jumped on it haha

Only thing I didn’t opt for was the stencils, went for decal logos so will just seal them and go easy with the PW during cleaning before I do any hooning

Mine has factory red calipers (a £560 option) and to be honest I’d rather have the £560 and the standard coloured ones!

Red is too flashy (why do you want to look at a brake calliper rather than the car itself? And it shows dirt/chips too easily (in the same way as silver is a forgiving colour for cars and looks clean for longer)

After a few days driving they look dirty whilst the rest of the car doesn’t. Maybe I need to put some kind of ceramic coating/wax/sealant on them...

IMHO of course I’d spend the cash on something with more tangible benefit :thumb:

I’m going to be getting mine done in Silver on my new W212. A nice OEM look. I’ll probably get the wheels refurbed at the same time and a new set of Asymmetric 3s all round :) Should be able to get that all done under £1k

I painted all mine on my merc black

My previous E class had rust on the calipers when I bought it at 3 years old, probably the result of "hand" car washes spraying patio cleaning acid on them. So the first week I painted them with silver Hammerite.
When I got my current E350 at 18 months old there was no rust. I took the wheels off and sprayed the hub part od the brake disc and the calipers with car paint clear lacquer.
When we bought my wife's GLA brand new I did the same to that the first week.
No rust (I hand wash the cars without alloy wheel cleaner) and both look standard
