So the other day got in the car and turned it on. It was coldish about 3c and I put it in reverse and heard a massive thud. Crap . Got out checked everything and it looked ok so got back in and thought the bumper was maybe on the curb? Thud again and the front passenger side sunk.

So ordered 2 sachs springs from ECP and got them quickly using express delivery :thumb:

I used this guide The BEST way to DIY Lowering on W211 E350 Sport Pkg. - MBWorld.org Forums

Thanks to the OP on that. I used the guide to a point but as I wasnt lowering just the removal applied to me.

A few bits of advice though you will need silly long spring compressors. "Normal" spring compressors aren't long enough. So I ordered some but couldn't wait on them coming so got the garage to do the compressing. Make sure the red dot on the top cap lines up with the red dot on the damper.

A good ball joint splitter like this is great on the upper ball joint.

So got it all sorted which I was glad about.

Will be replacing the lower ball joint next week. Ordered the expensive ball joint press tool and will crack on with it next week.

Anyway I hope the extra info will help someone who needs to do this job :thumb:

You don't need to split the upper ball joint for this job. :)

I didnt think you would have had to be it provided better access to the strut and more leverage when lining up the strut. Only took a minute to get off though.

Cheers for the advise though. :thumb:
