Just wondered if any of you have been caught out in the snow without winters on? How did it cope?

Hi left the c63 at home and drove the c43 today - drove the c63 last year in the snow and had a few INTERESTING moments

im out in the snow in the c63 its interesting:eek: ....great care is required

however my winters tyres are on the way and should be fitted by the weekend:thumb:

Best in the garage or drive, but the C240 is just fine.

My C63 is tucked up in the garage - nice and warm - and that's where it's going to stay until it gets warmer...

Was out yesterday but stuck to the main roads (M25 and A roads) was OK but was driving very, very carefully. The LSD definitely helped and I only needed to switch off ESP once to get it up on the drive.

Only hassle I had was idiots within the final half mile from home - had to help about 4 people of various ineptitude*.

Finally when I got home some pr1ck has park a shyate heap opposite my drive about 3ft from the kerb so I could get a clear run up it, the result is a kerbed rear alloy :wallbash:

Today it is staying put, like me!

* Freakin' idiots with tyres half inflated or people starting in 1st with 5000rpm or just general donkeys on the roads!

No work today, but I've been driving mine in the snow with M+S tyres and find them to be very good. You still have to be very careful of course, but no hairy moments and its just better to have appropriate rubber for the conditions.

The C43 is not being used. It's the other idiots I worry about sliding into me.

Very sensible advice Ollie, but I would not expect anything less from you.

My humble Derv machine is sleeping on the drive and will stay there until ice has gone.......

this week Ive been from kent to cambridge to derby to birmingham and back to kent

and survived...

tip-toed all the way ..got 22.8mpg too..

now im waiting for my vredestein winters to arrive

I think on balance i had enough horsepower well in truth about 400 too much:eek:

I've been using ours for the last 10 days with Pirelli Sottozeros on (had to go with Wintersport and 265's on the rear).

Loads of grip. Has been great in snow and on ice. Even more fun doing donuts in the works carpark :)

Would probably find it less than useless without the winter tyres though. Same as every other car I've had with anything like performance tyres on it.

As for some feedback, i took our c220cdi out today, and it was very well behaved, thanks!

Praise the lord for a soft easy power delivering diesel eh eh eh

Indeed, my diesel has shown exemplory behaviour in the recent inclement weather. Snow is the moment when the humble-engined shall inherit the road!

Fixed

I have not had any issues with mine in the snow......well not any issue that other cars with other types of engines and tyres have not had either.

it seems to work as well as can be expected.
