Anyone friends with somebody really famous?

You'd only have to storm Oscar night and maybe a state funeral and you'd tick off 99% of them. You'd be replying to the thread whilst in jail/hospital but you'd have the thread bagged :)

ooops...The "criteria" I meant was the criteria proposed by MOCAS

I bought my CLK63 AMG Black Series from mediocre race car driver "Chip Ganassi" .
Even in the USA, many will ask....." Who is Chip Ganassi "

His real claim to fame is being a very successful owner of multiple racing teams...:bannana:

My cousin was the drummer in the band Hue & Cry and co-wrote their first hit "Labour of Love"

He is currently a session musician in the US.

bloody great song !!!!

It is a footballer thing I think. I was refurbishing a house next door to Thierry Henri a few years ago, and he came out of his drive straight into the side of a car belonging to one of our subcontractors. Only a minor ding, but it turned out he had no insurance as all such things are dealt with by his agent - TH was fine but the agent was not pleasant

LOL!

If we ever bump into each other at a GTG I think we could probably swap a few stories. ;)

I'm quite friendly with a very well known (and quite private) guitarist. We do a few charity gigs during the year, and he and is wife were recently round for dinner with a few others to discuss this years events.

Through him I've met David Bowie, Phil Manzanera, Guy Pratt, Mike Rutherford, Pete Townsend, David Crosbie, Graham Stills, Eric Clapton, Jules Holland, Sam Brown and a bunch of others. All were very nice, friendly people - happy to chat, etc, apart from Mr Holland who was a bit of a grouch. None of these would be friends, just aquaintances, although I've played with Phil and Guy a few times.

You are indeed honored. ;)

Mr E,

There seems to be quite a few members on the forum who are musicians.

The National GTG would be a great place to assemble all those who can play.

Message to Andy K to organise stage, sound....

Whether friend or acquaintance, I (and wifey) enjoyed a delightful dinner at the home of the most senior Scottish law lord (now sadly deceased) and at the other end of the scale, got to know a former inmate of Bar-L who was once described as the most dangerous man in Scotland.

Charming fellas, both...

Was Jools grouchy because you misspelled his name?

That's the tops I think! I bow down to you! :D

By the way, by the sound of it, we could have one serious jam session if all us musicians got together sometime!

QUOTE]

Every time I drove past the "Bar-L" on the way into Glasgow with the kids I used to point it out.

Haven't heard it called that in years!

Love that guy - I think he is one of our best character actors (and bet he is a brill night out!)

Famous guy near me, for a short while at least. Yesterday whilst driving in my street in Eckington, Sheffield. I noticed a Bentley pass me with the reg CUE BALL. It was Roonie O. I live in a Cul-de-sac, and he was turning into it.

Maybe renting during the world camps is taking place.
