The silver one.
I am getting fed up with the amount of dirt and tar thats seems to get stuck on the panels immediately behind the wheels the offside being the worst for some reason, no puddles to wash off the worst?

Anyway new flaps on e bay and was just wondering if they do the job or not worth the bother.

Also how are they held on screws or clips?

Or should i just wash it more often:D

Yup got 4 on mine.
Held on with clips and screws I think, I'll check later.
Unless there's something drastically wrong with my car, there forever 'grounding out' over certain speed bumps and curbs when I have to do such a manoeuvre .

We have always had mudflaps on all our vehicles including the 210

My advice would be to do exactly what Bill is suggesting,
Check the Ebay ones are cheaper than the main dealer price and above all, check they are the correct flaps for a 210. Merecedes flaps are not obtrusive and blend in with the cars lines. cheap imitation ones can look awful

the genuine merc 124 ones i have recently fitted were clamped on with clamps and also screwed into existing holes. i suspect the 210 ones will be similar.

well worth doing IMO. I am not 100% convinced by the rear ones clamping on (no screws at all), but so far have not budged. i check them over when i wash the car to ensure they have not come loose. I guess you could always add extra supports if you wanted aswell.

i got mine from www.euromerc.co.uk (Nick on here).

regards, Derek.

Got all four on mine too. Screws & clips at the front, clips only at the rear. Same goes for the speed bumps, but they've been on for four years now and I haven't lost one yet. They do help keep the muck off behind them somewhat.

I've had front mudflaps on most cars (painted on the W221). I've never noticed them touching at speed bumps (all are OEM parts).

The ones for W210, W211 and W221 have clips plus screws to existing plastic parts, so no need to drill any metal and no need for rust protection because of that.

I usually put some transparent tape to protect the painting from the side where the flaps touch the paint.

I had them on my first 210 10 years ago, but no longer. They made a terrible racket on country roads. Got a free service because of them. Garage put them back on for me during a service without being asked to do so. They drilled holes in the back bumper to do so, badly. I complained, they removed and fixed and refunded the ( main dealer ) cost of service.

Lynall if your car had sill covers then you will need facelift flaps to cover them as they are very tailored to the sill.

The front flaps can catch on speed humps and when 'country laning' ;) due to the Avantgarde being low, but do protect the sills and doors.

I can understand it on kerbs, but an Elegance grounding on humps probably needs new springs and dampers. It makes a noticeable difference to overall ride and handling.

As you say, the flaps fit with side bolt retainers and lower screws into the plastic arch liner. The fitting is a bit poor really, much better on our other car..

My front mud flaps on a mitsubishi galant can catch the ground when cornering enthusiastically, or if i drive over a kerb. This grounding actually breaks the side of the mud flap, making them more flexible. I did try to repair them once by drilling two holes through each flap, one either side of the hole. I then threaded a zip tie through the holes. Unfortunately this didn't last five minutes and the holes pulled out.

The best thing I have found to prevent grounding is sensible driving - avoiding driving over kerbs and driving gently. I conclude that enthusiastic cornering is best left to the track day, not public roads.

It's more really the sleeping policeman type humps, the ones you have to really slow down for 5MPH? and the country laneing, I thought it was the under try catching but I'm thinking it's more my flaps now:D.

Sleeping police men are a nightmare, my AG inevitably hits the groung witht the undertray if I'm not very careful.

Thanks for the replies:) i have to go to mb later this week as w203 has developed a gearbox oil leak i love that car:rolleyes:

So will price up flaps compared to e bay ones.

Dm yes its got plastic sill covers.
