Anyway I can get a double din head unit into my w210 ?

Hi paul, if you get one that blends in and matches the interior thats the main thing.

Some of those have a very good spec, did you have a particular one in mind

Paul wont need to worry about getting matching fascia trim adaptors as done so in the other thread shown by Malcom as he will need one of these :

http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&F=210061%5F66G&M=112%2E911&GA=722%2E609722%2E698&GM=716%2E621&CT=F&cat=66G&SID=68&SGR=335&SGN=05

Part 30 (with out all the switches shown on the top just the S set)

With this he can fit any double din unit. At the end of the day its all about budget, the one in the other thread is Pioneers top of the range model AVIC-HD3BT costing £1,599.99 and has a 30gb hard drive as well as lingatronic :

This one does not have the hard drive or the lingatronic but is allot cheaper and still very decent:

If however you dont require navigation there allot of cheaper options as shown on the first link. The choice is endless and is up to personal choice and budget.

I want a conservative looking head unit and I do need sat nav and I want a DVD player. Not really bothered about IPOD conectivity or harddrive music storage.

What sort of budget do you have ?

SO with this part (30) http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...GM=716.621&CT=F&cat=66G&SID=68&SGR=335&SGN=05

I could fit a double DIN unit in with no ugly gaps ?

Also do I need a rear cage to hold it all in place ?

All Double Din units are a standard size and so is the Comand for a W210/W208 so there should be no ugly gaps

Depending on the unit you decide to go for all will have the fixtures and fixings needed to fit and secure it in place

I will use some christmas money that I will have off my family

I dont want to spend a fortune but I want DVD, Radio, CD and sat nav dont really need any other features. But I want it to look good or I might as well stick with what I have now

How much is the wooden part ? (just wondering)

That makes it all easier then
I thought I would nead a rear cage as well.

One more thing, do these units require a speed pulse?

My sat nav head unit that I have at the moment did not need a speed pulse so it fitted within minutes

I have also got to be careful that any rotating units dont foul on the gear shift

This JVC unit looks really good but no SatNav

Not all screens use a cage system but whatever the case may be with the one you may decide to go for, It will include the bits needed. Im not too sure about the speed plus on these units though.

Most units are getting near the £999 mark all in

I could get command fitted for that and it would look good as well

its getting confusing.

One other option would be to have a seperate sat nav unit as I dont use it all that often but that seems like a backwards step

The choice is all yours really, the cheapest quality Double Din unit with navigation that Caraudiosecurity have is the Kenwood DNX-7200:

Second cheapest is the Pioneer AVIC-D3:

After that the price for quality Double Din units do increrase a fair bit.

The first one is very nice. How much roughly would the front piece of wooden facia be ? What would you go for ? Command or that unit ?

Im trying to get the part numbers to work on the Inchcape site to get a price but have had no luck, I think you have to edit the part number accordingly to the number of switches. My guess is that piece wont be cheap, but if you decide to get a comand or an aftermarket unit unit you will still need it. Everyone has a personal prefference but I would personally go for the Aftermarket unit it does have alot more gear than what the Comand has to offer, so really its each to thier own.

Sorry about my link Paul, I must try them after posting.

To me the knobs on the left are not a problem a, your hand will not obscure the screen, in all an amazing piece of kit
