MB bodyshop quality?
I got my car back from MB after being resprayed on 3 panels following the red paint issue on my 2011 coupe; bootlid and 2 rear panels. On first inspection at dusk when the car was delivered to me (another story), paint job appeared to be OK, however:
After taking the car, I opened the boot and heard what I can only describe like a loose metal bit inside rattling. There was one screw missing from the trim and the whole trunk trim was looking messy. Every time I open or close the trunk now, I can hear it rattling around.
Two days after, I finally had the chance to walk around the car quickly and I found at least 3 imperfections in the paint. They look like small stone chips but they can't be stone chips because of the position of them on the panel. The freshly painted panels have loads of small horizontal scratches too.
I haven't inspected the car properly by any stretch so I am not discounting more issues with the trim or paint when the weather lets me have a closer look. I'll get some pics if I can later.
The car was finished earlier than expected (4 days instead of the originally quoted 15) as they said they had prioritised my car because they needed the courtesy car I had back.
I had panels painted before on other cars by non main dealers and never had any issues with paint defects. I have contacted the dealer and they have promised a call on Monday to sort something out.
I am a bit disappointed and I am expecting them to put it right but I have already done 5 trips to the dealer and getting tired of the whole thing to be honest.
