Hello

I've been reading this forum with interest, and decided to buy an aps30 becker 4718 to replace my aps10 tape unit. The aps 30 connected up and plugged in with no problems, but 10 seconds after it is turned on it goes silent and displays a message PROD. on the screen. Does anyone know what this means ? Have a I got a faulty aps30, or do I need to do something like enter a code to make it work ?

My car is a W203 220CDi on a 2001 plate.

Please help, I was so looking forward to having this working :(

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Jasper

I have had an APS 30 unit in both my cars, And have not seen this PROD message before.I have looked through the owners manual and cannot see any topics that relate to this message.

You should only have to enter the security code when you first connect the unit, or if it is disconnected from the power supply. I take it you must have done this, as you say the unit goes silent after 10 secs, and without entering the security code, you cannot get any functions to work.

Sorry I cant help any further.

Its a pity your APS 30 isnt working, I sometimes think it is better system than the comand I now have fitted in my ML.

Regards Wobbly

jasper the unit has to be coded to the car by the dealer, it's a security feature

hope that helps

Thanks guys - its a brand new unit, so that kind of fits in with what both of you have said, it probably needs a code, and as this is the newer model (4718) it probably does have to be done my the dealer - ohh well I guess thats the lesser of the two evils - at least its probably not faulty !

Thanks again,:)

Kevin

Depending on how much a dealer wants, try here

Edit:

I bought an APS30 recently that is a 4718 - it has never required a code and obviously wasn't standard on my car.
