Has the 'Attention Assist' feature actually assisted any new W212 owners so far?

I've tried my damdest to pretend to be tired on long motorway journeys, but it hasn't so much made a single beep.:dk:

I've waited for over the 20 min learning time, and tried making untypical sharp movements of the wheel, and operating 'hands-free' for as long as the car will stay on the hard stuff, going over several rumble strips, then making a severe steering correction - but still no beep! :wallbash:

The coffee cup tells me it's activated, but having once fallen asleep for a few seconds when driving the Crossfire back the an airport in the early hours  (saved by the rumble strip) I was hoping this may be a worthwhile device.

I assume it works with the cruise control on - if not it would be useless.

It does work, but I don't think it can be fooled very easily.

Hehe - I've tried the same too - still not beeped at me yet...

I will be doing a long journey in a week, I will give it a go :p
My guess is that it wont matter if cruise control is on or off.

Hey - what's with the little cluster of new E class owners in Lincs? Are Grimsby Merc doing some offers??

LOL :)
a few months ago I was looking at the new E250 coupe sport and a sales guy brought one over to show me (I didnt want him to come as I knew I would buckle under pressure and purchase!).
2 faulty injectors later and a cancelled factory order of an E350 coupe sport enabled me to get the car that I really wanted :p

Hey, with diesel injectors exploding every 2,000 miles or so how much attention do you want from your cars!

Sorry, couldn't resist chipping in as I was amused by your thread. You guys really should replace Clarkson, Hammond and May! Would make a great feature for Top Gear!

Hope to be joining the E sport coupe ranks in March (if they convince me that they've sorted the problems!)

I think every new E Class owner, including me, has tried to 'twitch' the attention assist into life, I guess we can't outwit it.

I look forward to trying to fool it when I get my E Class in March :)

Just out of curiosity, would anyone have actually paid for this were it not standard?

So what other SO* functions are Merc going to engineer in, now they've solved the "jabbing you in the ribs when you doze off" problem?

ShopAssist, which points out which shops sell those shoes you really like as you drive past 2 weeks before an anniversary?

InLawTronic perfectly replicates a voice from the back seat explaining how the A5 is better than the M1..

I can feel a 'winnebago' type claim coming on here.

I'm yet to be convinced the system works at all.

We could do with a volunteer...................

............Some say, ..............that when he falls asleep, he dreams of making love to a Sinclair C5, all we know is, they call him the S**G

Winnebago type claim = the woman who thought Cruise Control on her hire RV did a bit more driving than it actually does so went into the back to make a cup of coffee at 55mph?

:D

Didn't she win a packet load of compensation?

It is so easy to believe these things though - especially when they concern the Yanks.

Actually (to get this out of the way because it's the grandfather of all this) McDonalds were serving coffee at around 98degC in flimsy cups with shoddy lids, and had been warned numerous times (and been found liable previously) but chose to ignore the issue as modifying all their coffee machines and buying better cups was deemed unprofitable.

Hence, a large payout when one of their customers suffered severe burns and lifelong disfiguration as a result of their negligence.

Having said this, of course litigation is the new Pools and you get ridiculous cases from scum with nothing but extortion on their minds, but I have to jump in and point out that McDonalds are greedy Capitalist Pigdogs :D

Another example is the famous Ford Pinto fuel tank problem, where Ford US did a cost benefit analysis on either paying the compo for victims burned to death or recalling all Pinto's!

Knowing my luck, I'll just be heading for the crash barrier, fully suited up like Stig, preparing my claim for the Attention Assist not warning me (Camera crew in the Wife's B Class behind), and those damn W212 injectors will fail, and stop the car in its tracks, just before impact !!
