Hi, My 1996 C200 Auto (5 speed) has covered nearly 120k miles and it runs beautifully. I had a small A service carried out about 3k miles ago but I don't think the transmission fluid has ever been changed. It certainly hasn't since I purchased the car two years ago. My question simply is this, do other members feel I should get the fluid changed or not? I've read some conflicting advice and some comments about changing the fluid after such a mileage / time causing problems. I might add that gearchanges are wondrfully smooth and there are absolutely no problems with the auto gearbox.

Comments please.

It is now done at 40-50k Why not have it done as the box is working well along with the filter. Get a good indie to do it you have a converter drain plug so all of your fluid can be changed

Yep.....suggest you get it done and this will ensure that the box is kept in good health. Approx £120 - £160, the cost being in the purchase of the expensive fluid.

Does this apply to W210 as well?

mine has 128K on the clock. Almost entirely motorway mileage though so not done too much sitting in traffic jams in drive etc.

Yes, it is the same 722.6 gearbox so do get it done.

Best done by an indie
