Merceded w210
I am new to this forum. I have recently got w210 1997 Diesel,E300. It has 722.4 auto gearbox like P R N D 3 2 not triptonic. Yesterday the problem starts. The car was shifting all the gears normally. P N D 3 2 are working fine. The problem is with Reverse. As i shift gear to R by pressing brake the car shifts in R normally and also push backwards. But when i accelerate the race pedal the car doesnt move backwards. Engine sounds fine. I want to tell that when i shift R the car move backward by itself on plain road but when i accelerate the race pedal the RPm goes up but car doesnt getting power to move it backward. On hilly road the R doest move car backward. Gear shifting is fine but R is not getting power to move car backward.
And i want to tell i changed the ATF fluid and filter today but problem is same. Kindly suggest what should i do with this problem as mechanics here in Pakistan doesnt know well about benz.
Waiting for good solution from all of you.
Thanks

Sounds like the reverse clutch pack is broken/worn out - thats a full gearbox strip and re-build by a specialist.

however, there are some springs and actuators - named helpfully like "K3" which make everything happen, one of these may be stuck. They are underneath the circular covers on the sides of the gearbox. Beyond this - I cant help

I think the pedal you refer to is known in English as 'accelerator' in the UK or 'Gas' in the US - 'race' pedal sounds funny to us....

Thanks. I think the reverse clutch plate is worn out. Let me go to some workshop. The new gear costs here about 4000 USD.
