Balance Shaft Gear issues in W204 2009 58 Reg?

Been reading up about the balance shaft gear issues that plagued the early (upto MY 2008) W204 M272 engines that led to premature wear and expensive costs associated to fix it.

I am looking at a 2009 (58 plate) C Class 220 CDi this weekend but want to be sure that this car is the revised model. Can someone clarify if the 58 reg has the revised engine?

The M272 engine is a 3.5L V6 petrol, while the car you're interested in is a 2.1L I4 diesel which doesn't have the same camshaft and balance shaft drive arrangement.

The problem you might wish to check on the 4 cylinder OM651 motor concerns piezo injector failure and possibly rear timing chain issues.
