I have a SLK 320 Year 2000

Just started having the BAS/ESP light come on she drives fine.

When I stop and switch off remove key restart the light goes off, some times back next day or within 30 min no real set time.

From reading the forums it seems anything for battery to brake sensor or worse.
Any one recommend best place to start?

I also have P0130 and P0150 pending?

Lots of info would be gratefully received.

Many thanks
Tony

Try turning the steering wheel from lock to lock 3 times with the engine running, this can often re-set the BAS/ESP faults. If not check the battery voltage as a failing battery can cause lots of faults in the system. Brake light switches can also fail and cause these errors.

Have you had all the fault codes read by someone with a Star computer? It is by far the best way as they may be old or require further investigating.

Thanks for that I will try battery first.

I have read the codes with soft ware I got off the net. seem to read most stuff if it is good enough?
What is a Star computer is that just for MB?

thanks again

This may well be lateral motion sensor. I had the same thing. Changed the brake switch, turn the steering wheel etc then put it on a diagnostic
Computer for the codes. Lateral motion sensor had gone. Cost £94 from the dealer 2 min job to fit

The code reader you have will only read the fairly basic codes supported under the OBD standard. Mercedes, in common with most manufacturers, have more detailed diagnostic software that can provide much more in-depth interrogation of systems and sub-systems.

Find a local MB independent that has Star before throwing money at it via other garages guess work.

Low brake fluid ? Dodgy brake light switch ?
