Having been driving for 45 years. I've never before been beaten by the weather.
I lost that record this morning after a night of heavy snow in Barnsley.
Not a hope this morning.
Same for tomorrow unless they get round to ploughing my road.

It's not a bus route, so we don't count !!

Hope you're all having better luck.
It's still snowing here.

Same here in Sheffield - I have been defeated for the first time in my 17 years of driving.

Bought some wellies though so it's on foot until it thaws :)

Snows deeper than wellies here. Going to have to dig my way down the drive eventually...

We have 2ft here so I wore my jeans over my wellies and all was well :) (apart from wet jeans of course but they'll dry)

The cats also seem to be having a few logistical issues moving about in the snow. They seem strangly reluctant to go outside today!

The snow isn't too bad here, but the conditions for my planned 400, mile round trip to Esher today made for staying put.

I can't remember being beaten by the weather before, and today's abandonment was because of Mrs Ringways' incessant nagging about how dangerous the trip would be, whether by road, air or rail.

I would have prefered to travel and have done with it.

Have a client who works in Tolworth and lives near Gatwick. Took her 8.5 hours to get home last night.

Problem down there is when traffic goes mad it does it completely.

I was supposed to be travelling to Wokingham in Berkshire today, but my customer pulled the plug on that yesterday.
The problem this morning would have been getting out of my drive and out of my own street.
I'm not confident about tomorrow, either.

And the problem isn't how capable you or your car are half the time - it's the idiots who drive like it's just a normal day and then cause an accident.

And I have lost count of the 4x4s on huge sports wheels and tyres I have seen driving round like they are better than everyone else. I don't think they realise they have no real advantage on those tyres/wheels and that is dangerous to everyone else.

The drive into work this morning was dreadful.
Took me all of twenty minutes instead of the normal fifteen.

I think it was cold outside - the temperature showed -2.5, but the heated seats, and VERY efficient heating kept me all toasty.

We've had snow on the ground since last Friday. No sign of it going must be nearly 25mm deep.

I'll get me coat.

Snowed in here in Sheffield.

Was supposedto head up for a 2pm in Glasgow today.

No way yhat was going to happen.

I've just come back from the local shops, where there's been a run on everything.

About a foot of snow at least on the ground.

Hope it melts soon.

I've had to cancel 4 Client visits over the next week.

Not good.

Drive Safely people..

Meant to have a meeting in Barking today, but combination of snow, ice and horrendous traffic at my end has caused a staying in the warm house and having a conference call instead! :) Car is happier too! :)

No snow to speak of at all in the Reading, Maidenhead, Henley on Thames area. Just a little v. light dusting covers about 5% of the ground.

Brass monkey cold though.

Do you know they say its going to be as low as 70 degrees tomorrow here in Florida, I'll believe it when I see it. Packing a pair of jeans in the car tho...better safe than sorry eh?

It looks like South Yorkshire has taken a hammering last night and today.
I feel that I ought to go outside and do a bit of digging.
BUT ... It's nice and warm in here.

Take care, all of you

Looking forward to getting home tonight. We have two cords of seasoned oak for the fire, and Mrs Ted has built it up something wicked.

Time to break out the smoky single malt methinks :)

This is supposed to be "God's Country" but even He has forgotten about us today!

He must have gone to Florida for a week to see Fizzer!

I just cant understand it, I'm out of the country for 3 or 4 weeks and the place has gone to rack and ruin. I just hope you manage to get it all tidied up again before me and Mrs Fizzer get back towards the end of December.
(Ok I'll stop now before a delegation is sent over to sort me out :D)

Weather for Sheffield at least says heavy snow on and off through until Sunday and then rain all next week, so that is probably when it will start to break up. It will be floods then :)
