Has anyone had any experience of fitting a Becker Grand Prix 7990 radio to a W210? Need to know if I can use the steering wheel buttons to control it? and does it display in the instrument cluster? Thanks
The aftermarket Becker units don't have an interface for the steering wheel controls or instrument display, in fact I don't know of any brands that will interface to Benz in such a way.

Wrong I'm afraid have just had fitted a Becker Cascade Pro 7941 you may need i believe a "Can- Bus Interface" which integrates the unit into the digital motor electronics of your specific vehicle.............analogue>digital conversion so to speak!.
For the steering wheel controls you will also need a Becker conversion lead to connect the controls successfully, however full display such as station name is possible but all other options are available such as channel change, volume etc are.I wasn't that concerned over the steering controls coz the Cascade Pro's party trick was full voice control over every feature?.
Tip: Do not be tempted to buy a cheaper Can-Bus interfaces and/or steering control conversion leads go for a brand which is well known and reputable.
Sempal automotive are the UK authorized distributor for Becker, they sell the SPAL interfaces and can supply the steering control conversion lead also.
Cheaper one's wont interface or even work correctly you have been warned!! plus the SPAL Units are fully updateble and configurable via USB and downloads from there database.
