Becker Map Pilot

Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me if there is a preference to running a 08/13 Becker satnav module with updated maps to 2015. Or should I keep my 08/14 module which seems to run a new software version, but still on the 2014 maps?

My point is, is the later software on the 08/14 module better and more important than the 2015 maps on a 08/13 with the older 2.5.27 software??

I'll answer my own question, in case it turns out to help anyone else in the future.

I can't say im 100% accurate with the differences i found between the two becker map pilot modules, but what i have notived from playing around is the following;

1, The newer unit stamped 08/14 with maps of the same year, boots up a lot quicker than the unit stamped 08/13. It then also runs a lot quicker when planning the route. Its quicker from both voice and manual address entry. I planned the same route on each unit of course, with the same settings. I'll assume it has faster hardware fitted, which is perhaps why the newer 08/14 module runs software version 3. while the 08/13 module is still at 2.5.27 (Becker says this is the latest available for this unit).

2, The 08/14 unit also uses a microSD slot and the older 08/13 unit has a standard SD slot.

Maybe its the 4GB version against 8GB version? Anyone got an approx date when the 8GB version became available?
