Becker Sat Nav Update

Has anyone successfully managed to update the software on one of these?
I got a brand new C220 a couple of days ago and have so far wasted 3 hours clunking through their appalling web site.
Now I have no sat nav since I get a pointless message stating that the memory card isn't inserted.
Does anyone have any step by step instructions for how to get this to work?

I'm assuming that someone at Mercedes had been smoking something the day they decided to use Becker instead of Tom Tom or Garmin....
