One in 70's porno purple knocking about near me, it's fecking hideously ugly.

If I had a budget of £180k and wanted a 4x4 I really couldn't see the point in spending circa £60k more on one of these as opposed to a FFRR Autobiography.

I guess that's the point. You spend the extra £60k because you can. And it's nice and obvious. Floats some people's boats.

Still looks like a gargoyle.

Can't wait to see what Kahn does to it.

(vomit).

It's going to be vile isn't it?

I used to like some of the Kahn creations but I think they ruin cars now.

Some of the wheel designs were actually pretty decent.

They started out well and with the right ideas but IMO they've gone too rapper/gangsta which is fine if you're P Diddy but not if you're Malcolm from Bradford.

Yes they are worth it. The Bentley is a pimped up q7 against a purpose built s class equivalent with actual dual purpose.

The test for me is how does compare with a RR sitting next to it in the carpark. Bentayga fails that test for me.

The velar is short and I've worked for land rover and the quality of workmanship is rubbish...the bentayga is a bentley so no matter what you say the badge speaks for its self.

Really , the way it is priced , it goes head to head against the G-Wagen .

Do you either want a properly engineered off-roader which can be taken anywhere and relied on , or a poseur-mobile that you won't want to get dirty inside and which is based on Audi running gear ?

Oh , and MB can offer you the 6.3L V8 and/or the 6x6 version :D

Well Pontoneer, it depends upon what you call of roading I suppose !
My eldest daughter's quotation is best used here! She is a pediatric surgeon and does yearly stints in under-developed parts of Africa as part of a global health initiatives.

Quote:-
Dad--(Pappy) There are only two vehicles that you can rely on here, a Toyota or a Land Rover. They can withstand being driven through deep water like fording rivers, being sat on or kicked over by a pack of elephants even attacked by a rhino. Roll 'em back on their wheels, open the doors and let the water run out and they just run again. The others need a mechanic to fix em!
So I suppose I wonder how one of these Bentley's would handle these conditions:-

Not quite a drive up into the Mendips for an quick in pint in the local village pub!

PS Love all the African faces --Congo what a place !:thumb:

A totally different world! Yes, love the faces...but the safety boots and all the precautions taken are more fascinating.:dk:

Oh! and a Bentayga cost about the same as the GDP of that whole country:doh:

Entertaining video - didn't dwell too long on the Unimog at the start since it just kept going past all the others :)

Not for nothing do they call on Unimogs when the other 'go anywhere' vehicles get stuck :D

The badge only speaks for itself when it doesn't speak with forked tongue.

One of the great innovative manufacturers, pioneering monobloc narrow angle Vee engines, independent front suspension and monocoque construction (of a kind) a decade before Andre Citroen's Traction Avant and the maker of a fine grand prix car is now poorly thought of.
Reputations are easy to lose. "Sir, what is a modern Lancia but a Fiat, only fancia."

Even Mercedes-Benz have lost their way from time to time. The A class alienated the traditional buyer who didn't want the brand associated with a small hatchback with cheap plastics. Diluting the Bentley brand is a silly idea. The Continental GT looked the part. It was big, dramatic, fast and noisy even if it wasn't the "best" driving machine out there.

A couple of weeks ago I was passed on the motorway by an Infiniti QX80 (on Russian plates; if you've seen their dashcam videos you'll understand why I wasn't surprised by the plates). Tasteless compared even to the Bentayga, and huge to boot; I've never been passed by a small cliff before...

4x4's are Bentley & Porsche's biggest sellers

Diluting the Bentley brand is a silly idea.

(Can't stand the figging things myself but...) The Cayenne and Bentayga are a huge part of the unit sales of their respective businesses.

Huge sales to non-European markets.

Is it diluting the brand? Or carrying the brand to the World?

2015: A full TWO thirds of Porsche sales (sold 225,000 units, including 80,000 Macan and 73,000 Cayenne)

2016: Expected to be one third of Bentley sales (3,500 Bentaygas out of 11,000 units)

With respect!
For info as a commercial vehicle specialist (MB Sprinter /Daf /Freightliner etc)
That yellow truck is a 2626 civi version of the Serbian FAP range and/or in MB Mil build it would be for the Bundeswehr and Dutch Army as the 1017y.

Although in Mil versions they come in 4WD I am unable to "spot" whether that civi truck in the clip is in fact a 4WD build config.
Unimogs are something a bit different with a different set of axles/suspension amongst other things. Granted the U Series does use the same basic cab over truck cab base platform as the 2626 but there are some obvious visible differences.

That 26/ 26 in definitely not a Mog that I can assure you!

I bow to your superior commercial knowledge , and perhaps wrongly used the term generically . Besides some 'proper' Unimogs , we have some of these trucks built up as fire appliances , and definitely 4x4 which is clearly visible when viewed from straight ahead , used on many of the western isles , and most of our guys , including the fleet technicians refer to them collectively as Unimogs .

Those big trucks are pretty unstoppable regardless and our guys do take them well off road when dealing with grass fires and other hard to reach incidents .

The British army have some as well . The ones which regularly catch my eye are the bright yellow ones used by Railtrack - besides road wheels they also have axles which lower into place for running on the railways - and several often seen in the sidings just across the rail bridge from Glasgow Central station .

The way that one was progressing through those conditions I suspect it was a 4x4 .

We also have a couple of Pinzgauers on our fleet , also very capable and compact so suitable for use on the narrow roads on some of the islands .

Looks like the pope-mobile.

We're just back from Abu Dhabi / Dubai.

There are more Bentaygas out there than we have 3 series BMWs here. Our neighbour out there has two. The Bentayga was designed for the Arabs and Americans and they love them.
