Hi can anyone advise me what you would recomend as a good alloy wheel cleaner / polish as I want to keep my alloys in top condition, gleaming !!!!

Thanks, what wax would you use ? a guy at work uses Alloy bright and he's wheels look like new but its not a wax its a cleaner but as my wheels are diamond cut, I'm a little unsure to use it or no, that so thats why I'm asking other MB owners as he's got a old ish Audi

the wheels on my corsa are diamond cut wonder wheels works just fine on them not caused any damage, i always use alloy wheel seal (autoglym) afterwards reduces the brake dust build up.

Soap and water

and that purple wheel wax.

Poorboys Wheelseal and car shampoo and water to clean them. If you keep them waxed then you don't need anything strong to clean them. If you do then I would only use Wonderwheels if you have some heavy soiling you cannot remove.

Do not use wonder wheels is is far too acidic and over time will damage your wheels..... Fact

Bilberry wheel cleaner is superb and will not harm your wheels. Then seal with
Planet Polish wheel sealer

I have tried lots of products and these two really perform.

Same as bingo999 been using Wonder wheels since it first ever came out on diamond cut and powder coated wheels, never experienced any damage at all you just have to make sure you rinse it off well, I've tried everything bilberry, the lot and nothing touches WW for cleaning, then I seal with AG Alloy Wheel Seal, Inside and out

I also use P21s wax and polish wheel cleaner is good but not as good as WW IMHO but I cover at least 1000 miles / week so the wheels get pretty grubby, WW does it for me :thumb:

Bilberry wheel cleaner - different dilution rates for how grubby wheels are - normal rate is 1:4 - if wheels are bad then use neat - Agitate with detailing brushes and rinse off.

Or / And - Meguiars Wheel Brightner - again set dilution rate at 1:4 - work an wheels then rinse off - Megs is stronger that Bilberry - Both products don't leave on the rim for longer than 5 minutes in neat form.

If there are still contaminants on the wheels then this can be removed by claying.

Wonder Wheels is an Acid - Used in exteme circumstance only - I'd certainly never let it near my monoblocks....

Seal wheels using something like Poorboys Wheel sealant to stop the muck from sticking to the wheels + it smells nice :O) - not that many people will be sniffing your wheels lol.

Once you've cleaned them down and protected them they will be very easy to maintain.

Mine done using bilberry 1:4 - sealed with poorboys - very very easy to maintain

Cleaning Wheels

Hi can anyone advise me what you would recomend as a good alloy wheel cleaner / polish as I want to keep my alloys in top condition, gleaming !!!!

The best way to clean your wheels : Clean your wheels when they are COLD and use warm soapy water, and if you do this regularly thats all you need to do, you don't need anything else, but you will need to clean them almost say every 30 miles or every week and more often if you have been driving in the rain! My wheels are Diamond cut in the face with a polished rim (no protection) I clean mine with soap and water and have done so for the last 2 years and they look as good as when I first had them done. Its just the upkeep that takes the time, if you don't have the time to clean them often then you will find the brake dust and road dirt will stick to the wheels and become harder to remove, the key is cleaning your wheels when they are "COLD" (like first thing in the morning) when the wheels are warm or hot or after a long drive or heavy breaking the break dust and dirt becomes tacky therefore sticks to the wheels more, making it more stubborn to remove, after every clean use a good wax, something like colonite, its a hard long lasting wax, when you next clean your wheels the dirt will just fall off!
You should really clean your wheels as you do your paintwork, especially if your wheels are lacquered, what type of wheels do you have?
Thats my pennies worth!

Just wash mine with water and then polish every so often, a quick rinse usually gets them sparkling.

soap and warm water with a sponge

after wards polish and wax and the next time the dirt falls off

That ball is a sponge. It goes on your cordless drill. It is very quick and gets into places other sponges are afraid to go.

Wet wheel. Dunk sponge into suds and wrap it about the wheel. Wash and polish. Hose off and wax.

Apparently there is also a difference between lacquered and bare-metal alloys. You must not use the wrong chemicals. Either you pit the metal or remove the lacquer. Doh!

Most times you don't need strong chemicals.

It 's got to be Muc-off for me, alkaline based. Can use it on anything
