hiya,,,
Just wondered what sort of detail would be best suited to our car,,
Car has great paintwork with zero rust but could do with a nice clay bar etc,
A few surface scratches on bonnet over the years that a good compound would take of I imagine, car is a droptop ,,
Anyone over in NE London/Essex that use a reg detailer?,,
Thanks for reading and any replys ,
Cheers,,,jasonp

Forgot to mention that the car is black and the few scratches I mentioned are very hard to see ,,,,jasonp

Probably best you first indicate what kind of budget you have in mind. There is a world of different between the pricing of a valeter and a detailer due to the time taken to perform the various processes available. For example Gleam Machine over in Essex would be asking around £950 for a full-on 3-stage paint correction and general tart up taking 4-5 days which may be more than you would want to commit to a 15 year old car.

Alternatively, you could check out Daryl at Offset Detailing in Chelmsford. He'll do you a single stage paint correction and a protective coating for around £300.

Thanks Toolbad,,,
Budgeted up to around £5-600 so the second option seems a good one and don't think a four day detail on ours is needed,,
Is Daryl a mobile detailer? Or would a visit to Chelmsford be needed,,,
Thanks again,,,,jasonp

Daryl operates out of premises in Chelmsford, the address of which is not openly advertised due to the many high-value cars people trust him to work on. If you click on the portfolio section of his website you will see inside his premises. He is very flexible regarding drop-off and collection times to fit in with your working day. I think he is on holiday in Spain this week but is probably still checking his e-mails. and voicemails.

Here's a video and pics of a black 2012 SLK 55 AMG he did for a customer, yours shouldn't take as long being a convertible but you may want to also discuss fabric restoration and protection with him:

Thanks again Toolbad,,,
A good idea to have the roof serviced/re-waterproofing also if deemed needed
Cheers,,,,jasonp

I would take it to a few detailers and ask their advice as it’s difficult to comment without seeing in the metal. It will also give you an idea of which detailer you have greatest confidence in too.

Thanks for that Bobby,
Much appreciated,,, jasonp
