Big Thank You To Ian

Twas the flee bay

Went all the way to wales for her!

Owner invested in a tv/dvd with wireless headphones, DVD player and high speed becker sat nav, upgraded lights all round and lots of carbon bits.

Just unfortunate about the mirrors and badges but they can be sorted.

Intend to just keep it clean and tidy.
Get enough problems with 5-0 as it is after having a shave.
Will be good in later years I suppose.

Wheels were an extra obviously.
All i've done is a number plate, custom centre console and a service.

Oh and a valet. (thats my specialty)

It's not til it's gone that you miss something :(

Nice to meet everyone through it all
Including one of the best mechanics I've come across:bannana:

Nice to know she's in the safe hands of someone other than the stealership.

That's a picture of my misses not much to look at but she's great in bed.

Ahem back to the topic, yes I think Ian and the way he works is what MB was and should be up to the present day. However, stealerships (some not all) tend to concentrate more on making money and don't care much for after sales service or courtesy.

Ian told me once that he takes care of the cars as if they were his own and makes sure that the customer is happy (steady no rude comments) before they take the car from him.

From my own experience, Ian made sure to check everything over in terms of the interior install and the price too was very reasonable, considering an ex-MB tech with his own garage told me it would cost 5 days work and 1200 quid worth of labour + vat

Anyway, more mods to go in when I source parts. Ian's sparky will sort them out when I get them. It was well worth the trek.

Managed to get the head off today, not a pretty sight. I need to speak with Swan before I expand any more. Needless to say he can't have it back tomorrow.

i guessed it will be nasty.
just like mine in 2002. car will not start cos one cylinder was full of water.
Worse on my brothers BMW. the piston forced the water out the top of the cylinder as water does not compress and messed up his valves on the top of the cylinder

Just spoken with Swan. So here is what I found, I will try to add pics later. Two of the cylinder heads are pitted, its like something broke off and bounced around a little causing the pitting (may be cat related ?) The exhaust manifold is seriously cracked (£444.11 from main dealers , managed to track one down for less that a ton plus vat). The head gasket has gone all the way round cylinder one and its not an original gasket. Looks like someone has done a head job in the past and forgot to torque the front 4 head bolts up. The reason that cyls 2,3 and 4 were running rich is, I think due to the water ingress affecting the Lambda sensor thereby telling the ecu that it needs enriching. That damn supercharger was a pain to remove, all bolts seized up and in a really difficult place to get at. New bolts ordered. I am reasonably sure that the cat has been changed quite recently, wonders if this has been part of the problem. Anyway going to de cat it after I have it running as Swan desperately needs wheels for his job. Priority, get him his wheels back asap. Anyone got any midnight oil handy? :o

edited to include pics.

I'll let you give them the technical low down now Ian.

My wallets worried.

Needless to say your work and efforts on it have been flawless.

I'm going to go cry now in a corner.:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

My bad
You beat me to it.

Thanks Ian.

We can de-cat another day.

 The flames can wait:devil: lol

Like i said it could not be in better hands. i guess if he caught it early the manifold might have been salvageable

All this makes me want to be back out of the money trade and back in the car trade.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:confused:

Mind you only did valeting and spray bits etc.

Don't know my cylinder from my manifold :(
