Biggest TV disappointment ever

Hmm ... imagine some icons in the above posting that dissapeared after a spellcheck!! ;o)

Some films are good, some films are bad, most are unremarkable.
.

Spot on Stratman - just as books, music, cars, etc, etc, vary in content and quality, so do movies....

I recognise some of those - more the sort of films I do enjoy. Bit left field, bit art house - more thought provoking than the usual Hollywood stuff which doesn't do it for me.

Saw Avatar the other day, for example - I will never get those hours back.......

...so it's just a case of finding what suits, sitting back and enjoying!

LS - you are closer than you think!

Also worth considering is that movies of the type under discussion here can be layered in a way that every subsequent viewing reveals more detail, which as well as enriching them, makes them re-watchable. I will never tire of Pan's Labyrinth.

I thought it was going to be about a 70" 3D television that turned out to be rubbish!

I thought it was going to be about a bad experience with a cross-dresser...

Good point - probably the reason I listed most of the ones that I did, they stand up to watching over and over and every time you find new little gems within! :thumb:

Good films are some of the best experiences in life, the way they move you, whether they make you laugh or cry is something rather special and they can do it in a way even books struggle with, however, most films are complete dross!

Anything by the Cohen Brothers, Fargo, No Country For Old Men, True Grit, Burn After Reading, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and the remake of The Ladykillers.
All great films.

Anything from Studio Ghibli, just makes you feel like a kid again.

Toy Story, not met anyone who doesn't love those films, apart from people who haven't seen them!

Guillermo del Toro, a genius, a filmaker who just gets it right, if he only made Pan's Labyrinth and no other film he would still be a god.

Then there is Richard Curtis, Notting Hill, Love Actually, The Boat That Rocked, four Weddings, British humour at its very best.

And loads of the foreign films like Run Lola Run, or my favourite film of all time City Of God, to deny yourself those is to deny yourself so much.

Just need to sort out the 95% that are crap, and I can understand if you can't be bothered. ;)

It all comes down to post production .

Skilful editing is what turns a good film into a great film ,

a mediocre film into a watchable film ,

and a bad film into a short film . :D
